Having just bought a 2010 Kluger I've done an oil change. I watched this video up to taking out the filter. Missed the bit about the internal seal. I'll know next time. Great instruction!

Usually when the drainbolt on the filter doesn't come off by itself, it's because it and/or the oil filter housing cap were not torqued correctly at the previous oil change. This is your fault if you are using a ⅜ extension in the drainbolt to tighten both the oil filter cap and drainbolt at the same time. Use a good oil filter cap wrench like the Motivx MX2320 to tighten the oil filter cap and then use the ⅜ extension to tighten the drainbolt making it half as tight as the oil filter cap. Oil filter housing cap = 25 N•m Oil filter housing drainbolt = 12.5 N•m (½ as much as the oil filter housing cap) Put the covers back on after starting the engine and checking for leaks. And really... Anything below the low mark is excessively low, anything above the high mark is excessively high. When do you check the cabin air filter? All in all, I gave you a thumbs up. Great quality video. Great attitude. Quite thorough and sufficient for the average DIYer.

Hi Mate, do you know much about the gearbox / front diff whine these Klugers sometimes have? Mine is most prevalent around 70=80kms and quite loud, pretty annoying and from what I've found quite common.
@driftcarsjp
@driftcarsjp 3 жыл бұрын
Mine does the same thing, its the transfer you can replace if its quite bad but will be expensive. Next service I might try some heavier weight oil and see if that helps. When I worked for lexus the early RX350 that share the same platform as the kluger had a recall for the same issue. But it must not have been carried in to the later model klugers
@Fluid36
@Fluid36 3 жыл бұрын
@@driftcarsjp Ok thanks, so it's actually the transfer case and not the combined transmission / front diff? If so I'll change the transfer case fluid, I though it was the front diff. Cheers.

Regarding the jack stand placement, my jack-stands don’t have a grove (u-shape) in them like yours. Makes it hard to place them under the rails without possibly causing damage. Do you have another recommended spot? Great video. Thanks
@driftcarsjp
@driftcarsjp 3 жыл бұрын
What's on the top of your jack stands? Most stands won't damage the rails. You can also put under the chassis rails or under the rear of lower control arm.

Thanks for the video mate. Where are you located? I might as well bring my car to you for servicing :) Considering Kluger takes 6.1lt engine oil. It is a pain to find 7lt engine oil bottles when someone like me only look to do 1 service a year. Nearly only 5000kms a years . Bases on your feedback I should be okay with 6lt bottle.

@driftcarsjp
@driftcarsjp 3 жыл бұрын
Does the noise sound like a shock and happens when cornering on bumpy road? I could be your steering column shaft. It's a common issue and just needs to be removed and greased. It's the lower half of your steering column.
