Mighty off road ability and total mechanical dependability make the Land Cruiser a top choice for anyone considering a journey to the ends of the earth. However, it lacks the comfort and versatility of rivals like the Land Rover Discovery 4. Tonka-toy looks and incredible mechanical toughness make the Land Cruiser a popular choice for drivers who are planning big adventures off-road. If it's gadgets galore you're after, though, you won't be disappointed, as the cabin is well equipped, with satellite navigation, air-conditioning and electric windows standard on top-specification models. Inside, the interior looks and feels a little dated, but at least there's a new dashboard that gathers together all those easy to use controls in a smart looking fashion. Chunky indicator stalks and heater controls are in keeping with the car's no-nonsense image.

I've been in a Land Cruiser V8 diesel, and i can say is that it felt very luxurious. It was very quiet inside, even on 20 inch winter offroad tires. It soaked up all the bumps in the road. It sounded like a jet when it accelerated, and it was pretty quick too, so i can see why people love Land Cruisers so much.

Unlike most of the fancy SUVs out there today which are primarily built for going to the supermarket, pick the kids from football practice, the Land Cruiser is a serious off road beast. If your normal travel includes bad roads, you can't go wrong with this one.

The engine is definitely not as smooth as a Land Rover TDV6, but at least it doesn’t snap it’s crankshaft all the time.

It has a ladder frame, differential locks, 42° climimbing angle, 70 cm wading capability... So yeah, it's a real OFF-ROADER!

I can't get over how well thought out these reviews are. I mean, look, she lowers the one seat so that the camera can see when she raises the third row. Later she moves the seat forward because it was where a 6' tall person would sit. Crazy!

This car is great! I love the camera in the front, really nice to get out of those obstructed junctions. I particularly loved the interior, which is particularly nice for a Toyota. It really seems like a luxury SUV. Really loved driving this car, it comes with so many standard options...

It's the Landcruiser Prado Turbo D4D in Australia. The Landcruiser itself is much bigger than that in the video. And it has a 4.2L Twin turbo for the diesel version.

A great Review except I fail to see why it is that when ever 4x4s are reviewed, no comment is ever made about towing capability. The Land Cruiser is a towing vehicle, and some mention of pulling a horse box, or Caravan would be realy useful.

the front looks very nice .and the socket is a nice feature i really like the idea of being able to plug in a microwave or something(just an example!) and the interior is very nice with all those practical switches and climate control things. too bad it's not that comfy.

I can't believe people still say this isn't a Land Cruiser. Let me try again, there are 3 series of Land Cruisers in production: 1.the 70 series 2.the 150 series (the one in this video, known as the Prado in some regions) 3.the 200 series (the V8, the big one) And before you say the 150/Prado series isn't a real Land Cruiser think again, a 120 series Prado was at the North Pole with the Top Gear team,it had minimal modification (tyres and lift) so I think it qualifies as a Land Cruiser.

Over here, this is the Landcruiser Prado, kind of a little brother to the Landcruiser. The normal one, we'll call it the big brother, looks quite a lot like the 90's models, but bigger and a bit smoother on the edges. I'd prefer the big brother, to be honest.

her reference was fine as she was pointing out that people should be aware of the large size before buying the vehicle, especially if they're upsising from something like a ford fiesta which is alot smaller. mat has done similar things, e.g. referencing an astra in a vauxhall corsa review. this too was fine, because of the way it was done. she didnt say anything like 'compare to a ford fiesta, the toyota land cruiser is very expensive' - that would be bad. both reviewers are amazing at their job

I to have my 1996 4runner with the Lexus 4.2 litre V8. Would not swap it for quids , but wouldn`t mind the climate control and dual zone airconditioning. Prado is Australia`s #1 selling four wheel drive. !!

That's cause it is :D in Europe, I don't think the Land Cruiser 200 (aka the huge one w/ a V8 diesel) is sold, here in PH, both the Land Cruiser 200 and Land Cruiser Prado (as shown) are both sold, alongside its Lexus counterparts, Lexus GX 460 and LX 570.
