@@w.e.s. - Electric plugs and connectors by far, YES. BUT don't even try to stuff a "modern" car into a similar situation. You would be truly badly surprised, with the outcome. Or in other words. Better know how to swim. LOL :-) Old diesels, with no special ancillaries, were true work horses for this kind of stunt. A modern one ECU's, elec. injectors, etc. Would fall pray of this conditions in a few seconds. I hope u know that.

Neighbor here in Costa Rica has one in his farm that is currently a little over a million kilometers with the original engine. They use it to move coffee in there plantation

For what it's worth I still prefer the regular car wash! First and last time I was in similar the situation was in Africa. With a Toyota Hilux we got stuck in a river (Gurara). After another Hilux tried unsuccessfully to rescue us. A huge Caterpillar got stuck on the mudie river bank. We had to rescue it also... Finally a much lighter, nimble and absolutely normal AG tractor got us out! By then the night was falling and there was no more smiles or laughter, that much I can tell. LOL :-)

Was there some modifications made? Engine bay sealed? I'm surprised at how flat the lake bed is. I would be nervous that there would be huge craters out there. Their heads remained above water. Cool video.

No need to seal the engine bay at all. Just attention to breathers and the same with any transmission vents.

interesting, but the battery that starts the engine is not destroyed, or the electrical installation is not damaged, etc. or it doesn't have a battery mounted and it's just for fun, but I see a lot of SUVs going through the water.
