We took both the new 2020 GR Toyota Supra and the iconic Mk4 Supra from the 90s on the track to see how they stack up. My friend Aylissa (@aylissab) joins me to compare these babies both on and off the track. Thank you to Jay (@i_m_hades) who lent us his iconic Supra, to the Dubai Autodrome (@dubaiautodrome) for giving us the track to have a play and to Toyota (‪@ToyotaUAEaccount‬ for the new Supra.

She just shortshifted it....it can definitely beat that 300 something HP at ease...is just she's not a Pro at shifting gear with great timing....that Supra supposedly do a 2 step before starting to launch...to get that Turbo to kick-in...

I gotta reckon that the old one would definitely smoke the new one just because you can see its not stock at all, q fair comparasion would be both stock and the result of it would be the one we had here. We cant compare stock to tuned because this new engine tuned would probably smash the old one, not only because of the overall car dynamics but also because of all the technological improvement made around it!

Remind me in 20 years once the MK5 has been in countless films and earned a reputation, people will be saying the same thing. For whatever reason everyone has rose tinted nostalgia goggles on, if you compare the MK4 and MK5 in completely stock form the MK5 is a significantly better car to live with. As soon as you start tuning and fucking with it all of the comparisons you can make go out the window. The MK5 is 1 year old, give it 20 years and then you can judge how well its lived up to the MK4s legacy.

Señor Cactus she didn’t give it her best, she shifted into third way too early, everyone knows keep it in second until 60 - 80mph, then shift third, makes the engine work way harder, getting the turbo to kick in quicker. Also depends on the clutch, nobody double clutches in a race, too much time unless going downhill. The only reason you’d double clutch is to reduce wear in clutch and make it last longer.

Cause, it’s not pretty easy to get a perfect shift, and the Launch is not fast cause of the Wing/Spoiler by pushing airs, if you have Spoiler/wing the Launching is not fast.

That thing is a FT-1 kit car on a z4 RC and the LC has more supra DNA in them than this and this is from a BMW fan ! should have just use the BMW engine and used the RC or the LC as a base !

a maxed out modified MK4 would be light years ahead of the MK5 Z4 even if the MK5 z4 is modified. Not very many aftermarket parts for the piece of shit Z4, not to mention the engine would blow up after 10,000 miles if it went past 900hp. Meanwhile the 2JZ, 1500hp and 10X more reliable than the M4 engine. I see MK4s smoke bugattis mclarens and lambos in drag races, ive never seen a Z4 or M4 bmw beat a hypercar on straight speed. and your new MK5 is the exact same thing as a Z4, not worth a fucking damn

It likely is a 500+ hp Mk4. She just granny'd it. Slowest shifts I've seen in my life and it probably didn't even come within 30% of limiter.

The new supra have the Wing/Spoiler but smaller for letting someone drafting behind the car or bump-draft the car, but the old supra is big than the normal body’s of the supra, so everyone cannot draft behind you or bump-draft if you vehicle is big. The Old supra’s Wing/Spoiler is pushing airs at the ground and the sky, that’s why the Launch is slow. For the new Supra have the Wing/Spoiler but small, the launch is good cause it’s small, pushing airs at the sky, you can also be more faster by bump-drafting with Big or small cars behind the new supra by the Wing/Spoiler pushing airs at the sky so cars can’t feel the airs, but in the interior have airs, by doors.

the 2jz engine and far superior to the bmw engine. an engineering made in the 90s comparing to the year 2020 still the engine 2jz and higher. a 2jz easily achieves 2000hp for a bmw engine.

@@max-verstappen-de4uu that s not true, the problem is nowdays some people still thinking about 2jz engine like if is the Best egine, but the reality is other... 2jz was created to be easy and cheap for tuning, but is a heavy engine because is iron cast block, You can have a lot hps but in circuit is bad deal, even Toyota Ford circuits supras they swap 2jz with 3s-gte because Is More balanced and eficient engine... The BMW engine Is a way superior than 2jz because Is powerful and balanced and if you can very tuneable, with stock internals you can make around 600 hps... The only con with this engine Is the cost for tuning because Is BMW Is expensive...
