First video I've seen of yours, Chris. Really impressive presentation inasmuch as at least one message here is "hey, you can do this". Alright so it's not "rocket surgery" (I'm ripping someone off with that line, don't recall who), obviously, but it helps to have it explained simply. I'm having terrible problems with my 2018 4WD Tundra Limited, I think I'm on my third set of rotors at 100K miles. I have to deal with L.A. freeways, I do a lot of offroading and yes, I'm pushing the GVWR with gear but I'm a fiendish about compression braking. No help. Either way, that's still nuts on the rotors. What I've learned today is there are aftermarket rotors that breathe - and have a lifetime warranty. I'm going there next, and I'm going to install them thanks to you. So, appreciate the tutorial, I'm now a subscriber (and fan).

Not sure if this is a Toyota thing or what. We live in the mountains and for downhill braking the stock rotors shook like mad by 30k miles. Our older 2011 Sienna did the same thing. Hopefully these vented rotors will last a lot longer, only time will tell. But I can say that every time I’m braking downhill, I pause to enjoy how smooth the truck feels. It’s night and day. I have always popped the brake fluid cap off while decompressing the pistons.

Should also crack the bleeder screw while pressing the pistons so you don’t push all that crap upstream

No bleed? No blue loctite on the mounting bolts? Cool trick on mounting the caliper after removing the rotor!

You don’t need to bleed in most cases, unless you are getting fade when you brake. Or maybe you are due to push some new fluid into the system. I’ve done several brake pad replacement jobs without needing to bleed. I’ve never had to use loctite, but that’s definitely not a bad idea!

Glad you asked. I was just thinking about that this week. We took the boat to the lake this week and I was noticing how great the brakes were while towing. So far, they have absolutely flawless. No complaints!

I personally have never had those pins just slide out. They are noramlly smelled up from rust and need to be cut out. Torque spec for the bolts is 70.

I wonder if that lube stuff on the pins would prevent those pins from sticking? Probably also depends where you live. Not incredibly wet here and definitely not near the ocean, so stuff doesn’t tend to rust very bad. Thx for the torque spec!
