Amount of automation done to cross such terrains is awesome. You can turn it off if you want. Its only a matter of time, before others start copying this.

@SSSSBBBB81 in what class? ford couldnt do it with the raptor because the rules say that to enter the stock class there must be X amount of them sold, and raptor hadnt gone on sale yet. most truck makers run some sort of baja effort. but the raptor will destroy thecompetition without trying. class 7 says you have to use the same suspension type, what other vehicle has fox triple bypass shocks?

@SSSSBBBB81 i think thats a stock class but scores website has very little info on it. i was thinking about entering my raptor in a race if i could find a class for it without adding a rollbar and fire extinguisher ect..

its necesary for any race. atleast the rollbar. even in tracks in high speed. even drag racing needs one

I love toyota trucks/suvs and the rally 4runner is similar to the trail edition 4runner but not as much as they make it out to be, they strip the multiterrain select out because it wont do them any good to take there eyes off the road while driving as fast as they do and this is also lifted with 33's. whenever you see a car going that fast over bumps and keeps driving away it doesnt have average joe shocks, most likely he has fox/king/radflo remote resivour shocks like on the ford raptor.

Wrong it’s a stock class truck and it is REQUIRED to run the factory shocks, you can only change the dampers and springs. I raced against this truck in my Xterra

@floridabowhunter I have owned a few Toyotas, I am not a Toyota hater, but have you noticed that Toyota has slipped a lot lately , Toyota has been riding on there previous reputation as being reliable, the metal quality has been compromised.....And there are two Raptors, the ridiculously expensive one and the other one that is maybe 5 thousand more than the standard 1-50, Have you priced the cost of gears and lockers lately? Then add 35in tires and Racing shocks...

I'd say it's better. The H1 may be better, but the 4Runner is tough to beat, especially the classic ones.

Sounds like they're trying to do what SVT did with the Raptor. Put the 'stock' vehicle in the Baha. But the difference is...SVT only put a spare tire on the back and lost the tailgate. Toyota seems to of given it a lift kit, bigger tires, lighter rims, and few other exterior modifications. How is it stock when you only have 30% of the vehicle left? Still a great looking truck none the less.

@MetroidSavior You are right, they are very different vehicles, the Raptor is off road ready off the showroom, but performs on road just as well with the 4-runner, they would also be comparable in price, just a reality check.It irritates me when any company lies to us, especially when they say it is off road ready and you can buy this race truck off of our showroom, that was the biggest lie here.

Keep it SIMPLE when off roading; All those electronic systems are future "issues..." I'll take a simple Hi-Lo 4x4 shift with a locking rear dif

seems like its the computers doing all the driving these days. I think i would choose an offroad buggy/ jeep cj that has straight differential lockers and a manual transmission over any of these "robots" for offroading.

What a load of BS! Does the stock trail addition come with 35in tires? NO, Does the stock trail addition come with race shocks? NO , For Toyota's defense most manufacturers say the same BS, Although the Ford Raptor is the real deal! All you have to do is add a roll bar and fire extinguisher. Or you could opt to buy the full race version, and all you have to do is turn the key.

@MetroidSavior Why let Toyota lie and get away with it?, they lied about being able to buy this off the show room, Go to Toyota and ask for the 4 Runner like you saw in this video, it would be $200,000.! The Raptor is just a few thousand over the normal F-150. And you can buy it off the show room in race form, unlike this highly modified 4-runner, I have owned 3 toyotas, so I am not biased, I just tell the facts.

All Toyota did was rip off Ford's idea with the Raptor...only Ford was able to do it with a stock truck. Toyota on the other hand lied and said it was completely stock when it clearly wasn't...o well, more dishonesty from a car company who puts their blame on their car mats instead of its engineers. The Toyota should finish fairly well since the gas pedal will porbably get stuck the entire time.

@adsabine1 News flash, 1 why cares? 4Runner video you're only going to get hate for this. 2, you say that the STOCK 4runner doesn't come with those features.. and you go on to say how you can get the UPGRADED raptor. Compare likes- the 4Runner is a LOT cheaper and performs better under daily activity. That's like comparing and sti to a bugatti.

Cookie cutter options these days. Toyota is no longer technically innovative or competitive. The Raptor would blow the doors off this thing.

Ready to re-think this? The new 2017 Raptor was SLOWER on the baja 1000 than the 2010 4runner. And the 2017 Raptor that was smoked - by 4 HOURS! - by the privateer team racing a 10yr old land cruiser in the same stock class. So no - the race results suggest that in fact the 7 year old 4runner would still blow the doors off the newest 450hp raptor.

MrJcjet Meh, there are a lot of reasons why they may have gone so slow-crappy driver, broke something and took time for repairs who knows. 4 hours indicates something went wrong. Either case, I would much rather have 450hp rather than 250 or whatever the toyota puts out.

MoabMan It broke. 3 times. It DNF d last time. Both of the dodge rams DNF too. oh. and the tundra won last year. maybe you've heard of the tortoise and the hare? the Ford is fast... until it breaks down. this time it made it 10 whole miles onto the race before out broke down the first time. The mint 400 will put the Tacoma head to head with the Ford raptor. wanna guess who will win? (hint is not the Ford).

MoabMan the raptor and the 4runner don't even compete. Ones a truck with a bed, the others an SUV. The 4runner is good for most everything. But the raptor is more suited for high speed desert running with those Bilstein shocks

why? ford takes my truck to the baja 1000 to prove its durability off road, now toyota does the exact same thing a year later and is hollering about thier great idea? it was fords idea, and the 4runner has too much electronics for an off roader, simple works people, use simple it wont let you down. and the raptor looks kick ass, the toyota just looks like a suv, nobody with a 4runner will go off road

The race vehicle is not the same as the one on the show room,lol The race vehicle probably costs $500,000. And they are not known for there speed. Look at 2;50, the wheels are bouncing,lol lack of dampening and wheel travel, junk!
