With this series you fired me up to learn a little and use my HP Tuners scanner to find a big problem with my pickup that was dyno tuned by a pro with the HP tuners software 3 years ago. The O2 sensor problem had been going on for at least a year. The shop couldn't figure it out, but thanks to you I did. Now I will watch this series a few more times and try it out on my pickup before attacking my C5. Your videos are always very well presented and educational. Thank you .

@@Toys4Life It's a 2005 GMC shorty. I had the anemic 4.8 replaced with a slightly cammed 5.3. I had to have a shop do it. Arthritis said I wasn't . The short story- It took some time but O2 sensors started kicking codes that didn't make sense. It was a problem mostly at idle. Finally, you fired me up to figure it out myself with HP Tuners scanner. I learned that 4.8 and 5.3 sensors aren't the same and either are the connectors. That wasn't fun but new 5.3 sensors and idle is good. And I'm sure the engine is happier all around. Your explanation of LTFT was a big help.

I will retune MAS when temperatures are under 117. Pulled plugs and better but not where I like. It is hard explaining this to a dirt track racer pushing 700hp. Thank you for your expert info.

Thank you. Unfortunately, since the process is so similar that I cannot justify the 8 hours it takes to produce a separate video isolating the C5. Plus these vids are so specific in focus, only a small percentage of the channel subs actually watch them as they are highly focused on a specific topic.

I love this series! I have HPT and want to start tuning my C6Z. It's great that you're walking through this step by step and explaining things as you go. I just bought a WB sensor. I'm assuming it's not as easy as just replacing one of the NB sensors with the WB sensor... What do I need to do to install it? Although I suspect you'll be coving this as well.

I was hoping I can run a question by you. On your c5, do you have any clearance issues with the intake snout and your hood? I think I noticed once that you just dropped your hood to close it. I can’t do that anymore as it rubs on the hood a bit and don’t want to damage anything. If not, any tips on clearance? I also remember your trimmed the tabs on your fan assembly to bring it lower, wondering if that might help me. Sorry so long and thank you as always!!

the aluminum intake tube touches the insulation. I looked recently and it barely touches - so good to go!

Great Video, are you able to share the proper parameters you used the graph/histogram in VCM Scanner? The only option I was able to find was "LTFT + STFT (Math). Apparently this takes an average of both STFT +LTFT. Its better to do LTFT by itself or does it really matter if you do ST +LT averaged together?

Thank you! You can customize all of these, and the more you do it the easier it becomes. That having been said LT plus ST is probably a little bit better, if you scan long enough LT's are more stable by themselves and the two should equal each other if your scans are long enough. Goat rope garage has a lot of videos on customizing your histograms.

I have a bad oxygen sensor on bank 1. The car has no cats and no rear O2 sensors and they are turned off in the tune. Ive seen the STFT at +50% while cruising but the LTFT is at 0 still. New O2 sensor is arriving tomorrow but just curious- could the tuner have set up the ecm to ignore STFT and just run fixed tables? Like open loop?

Yes, these cars can be tuned to run in open loop (referred to Speed Density mode) and it is fairly common in the forced induction community. I prefer both the Maf and SD be used/blended.

Hi mate, I have a question if I may, I am buying a 2000 C5 vette Auto trans, with Xer comp cam stage 3 and full custom exhaust with long tube headers doing 409rwhp. However, it is an automatic.. will the transmission be okay at that power for road use?

I would think so, unless it's tired. Stage 3 would imply a big duration cam, you might need a higher stall torque converter.

@@Toys4Life It's only done 104324 kms. Its safe the lose a lot of torque and power from the crank due to a torque tune and transaxle gearbox i would think.. If anything were to go it would be the converter?
