Nice video. A lot of great information on the ATEQ. At 6:10 there was a mistake I would like to correct. You said Autel only works with Autel sensors, but that is wrong. What Autel’s website and manuals state is the tool can’t program blank sensor from other brands that come without an ID. This only matters if you want to have duplicate sensor IDs for say summer/winter tires where you don’t want to complete the OBDII relearn process every 6 months when your rotate out tires. Or you are trying to skip the relearn OBDII process when installing a new TPMS sensor (duplicating the ID is helpful at skipping this step). Otherwise the Autel does work with all other sensors which the website and manual does say which wasn’t covered in this video. Example, if you buy a Denso TPMS sensor that already comes with an ID code programmed in it then all you do with the Autel after installing the new Denso sensor in the tire is run the relearn process, scan all 4 tires in the correct order, plug it into the car OBDII, turn on the car (not the engine), load the new locations and codes into your car ECU and then turn of the car and unplug. This is same process for ATEQ or any other scanning tool. You also have to do the same thing with a blank TPMS sensor regardless of scanning tool… unless you are copying the ID from a replaced sensor. Like I said earlier. If you want to buy any brand blank programmable sensor because you are doing a lot of copying codes then ATEQ is great if you don’t mind paying >$100 a year on updated software. If your customers require you to have the tool because they are bringing in their own sensor for you to program it makes sense to buy the ATEQ and just pass the cost on to them for the updating program fee. If you are able to tell your customers which programmable sensor you stock, you don’t need to program other brand blank sensors, and you don’t want to pay the $100 a year you can save yourself and your customers some coin then go with Autel. Personably at home for me I have 4 on one car year round, and 4 on winter tires, and 5 on summer tires for another where I rotate the 5th tire in during rotation so I have to do the relearn process every time anyways. The Autel works great for this and is less upfront cost and less ongoing cost. If I had to do it again I’d still go Autel. If I had to program different brand sensors then I would have went ATEQ and increase cost to customers to cover the annual ongoing expense. Hope my input helps some of you.

Super helpful, I came to this video because I have some Bosch quick fit installed in a car. Need to program them, and realized that going Bosch might have been a mistake… sounds like the autel can handle it. Think they’re blank.
@lukemontgomery40
@lukemontgomery40 8 күн бұрын
@@th600mike3 sorry, if the Bosch tire sensor is blank without an ID and needs programmed then the Autel will not work. Hopefully reading my OP will make sense. Bosch blank sensors are not Autel blank sensors so Autel won’t be able to write an ID onto the Bosch. If the Bosch came with an ID already then the Autel will work.

I’m a CJDR tech and I like how you pointed out the mopar tool is just rebranded and I started looking into it. Spot on. I hope I never have to buy one I’ll just keep using the shop one seems how the boss had them install the base in my bay so I’m not complaining lol. The price of a snap on one is a hard pull to shallow sometimes. Yes need updated tool box tours lots changed over a year. I think this last year I bought more tools than I ever did in a year but that’s how it works. Also got a bigger box so more space to fill!

There are good readers who read a lot's of brand sensors but for all tools - regular software updates should be done to receive all new sensor brand and model information what's comes out.

The one with the color display is the one that GM made their new special tool not sure what model it really is and i've used it a few times and its really nice. I personally have my own Autel TS601 that i bought a few years ago and it works great, that one won't program most aftermarket sensors, but once they are programmed they will activate. I have found that some aftermarket sensors it will program. Autel sensors are cheap and work great! The autel will Program New OE sensors. If this tool was available years ago when i bought the Autel I probably would have bought this one. Although the Autel gets free updates for life!

Hey! Does this tool need an OBD scanner to write sensor's ID into car's computer? I was under the impression that these tools car read sensors and possibly clone old sensor's data into the new one without needing to update IDs into car's computer. What if you have a new sensor already installed into wheels, will you be able to extract car's TPMS data from original/old sensors?

The one I bought using the link you provided here, didn't have a year of updates, it said the license was expired, and neither Amazon nor the seller couldn't provide a new license code. Buyer beware - it should come with a new license code for the firsst year, in the box. Also there are mentions in the reviews on Amazon from at least two people that there are two versions of the VT36, one that won't program, and one will. Makes no sense. I'll just return it. Good review though.

Correct the autel can only program autel branded sensors. However they can scan any brand sensor. So far the autel sensors have proved to be good quality as I have not had to replace any that i have installed so far.

Agree, I’ve never really had any issues at all with the autel sensors. Just sucks to pay as much for the Autel tool but be only tied to that brand sensor to program.
@ericgunter45
@ericgunter45 3 жыл бұрын
@@RustbeltMechanic i agree completely. My view is slighty skewed as the shop I am at went from an old otc tpms tool that was so outdated you could only use the auto scan feature to the autel 508 so I dont have experience with the other brands.
@zachrayburn915
@zachrayburn915 3 жыл бұрын
The autel 508 will learn & program any sensor that already has a ID number and made for correct vehicle. Also comes with the obd2 cable and Lifetime free updates. Autel is less expensive than this Ateq after you buy the obd2 cable and will do everything you showed other than write ID numbers to other brands. Also updates continue to cost on the Ateq. So Autel being able to only write to autel sensors is no big deal since they are good sensors and the least expensive. Also noticed the Ateq didn't show autel as sensors it can do, so sensors will cost more.. Sensor & update cost quickly make the autel 508 lower cost to keep or purchase. . The Ateq does seem like a good unit otherwise. Just seems like the autel was thrown under the bus on this review.

the autel can relearn any, you just cant program new ones, it was unclear if you made that distinction so I thought I'd say this

Ok so autel could scan existing sensors but just not the brand new ones? Then how could someone add a broken one to the other 3 thats not autel? I guess its an autel trick on me.
