TPMS Valve Slow Leak Replacement How to Fix

Got a leaking tire and it's not a nail or around the bead on your tires...better check around your TPMS Sensor...they have a rubber seal that seals it to the rim hole..when it gets old and dry or when the valve it self deteriorates the aluminum white stuff pushes it's way around the seals and gives you a slow leak..follow along as I replace the valve seal with a kit that is sold..Enjoy...S7E304

@@alyoungcuda ive found hock shops to be the best place to nab up used smap on tools, great prices and you can replace the gears inside if they are damaged. The lion share of my snap gear is from pawn shops

Use AGS SIL-Glyde, it will not damaged rubber as so compatibility issues my occur with some greases Great video

@2:00 It should be certain torque there. On one sensor I bought (REDI Sensor) they gave that torque in the instructions 71 in-lbs ( and Schrader Valve 2.7 in-lbs), but I think that torque on nut might differ (Schrader probably the same, but it is a problem to find a torque wrench within that small range). Obviously the question about the specific torque on the Nut of the TPMS sensor kits is overlooked, I would say in all the films on YT about those kits. I want to reuse the original sensors, which are good, but don't know the specs on the nuts in service kits I bought. Probably I'll apply 71 in-lbs, not sure about this part of the project. I would appreciate any opinion on this matter.

They range from 35 to 80 in lbs, depending on the manufacturers wheel rim..some are different types of alloy and some are metal, so it depends on the manufacturer and the maker of the tpms sensor..even thou most are universal bit you can over tighten a tpms if you use another cars specs and maybe even damage the valve stem hole if its made of a soft alloy...

that is a right fix . but not everyone can fix that way . there is a quick and easy way to fix . take the nut and washer out apply small amount of silicone glue put washer back tie the nut . that is all . if the leak is slow you don't even need to release air pressure . 100% work all times

That might be a good temporary fix but i think once you break that seal on the valve, it might seat properly again.

I am having a very small leak from the nut between the nut and the stem like through the threads . I was thinking I could do the same with silicone . While leaving the tire aired up just loosening and apply silicone and tighten . But then the sensors will spin? And might not bea able to tighten it up after?

@@ebutuoycensorship8012 Mark the stem and watch if it wants to turn as you remove the nut, hold it to keep it from turning while you remove the nut, a small file or marking pen should work

Would Fix-a-Flat seal this kind of leak?

Fix a flat when installed is just a can of goo that goes in the tire but has no direction..so it just clings to the interior of the tire and it can actually go everywhere else except to the actual leak and it just makes fixing a flat harder if not impossible once that is on the surface..so no it most likely will not cure that leak.

@@alyoungcuda I'm thinking that I can remove the tire then orient it so that the stem is downward exactly vertical. Then put in just a small amount and it should run down to the leak. What do you think?

@@rogerg4916 it would have to run up into the rim even if you put the valve on the bottom..if you take the wheel off and tilt it then you still can't see if it goes to it and by then you give up and take it to a tire place, that goo would be all over and guaranteed you will need new valves and a tire...then it also might goo up the sensor itself
