I am a Republican and retired US Army Officer, John McCain was an honorable man and a true American patriot. I loved how he was with President Obama, genuine, professional, and honest. Obama and McCain set the example of how those that seek the highest office should conduct themselves. Any one that disparages ether man is not to be taken seriously.

Fast forward to 2020 (keep in mind I'm a supporter of the Democratic party) and both sides are shitflinging at eachother's bases for being "communists" or "nazis" (even if both are true in fringe cases, they're used as generalization to the entire party, including the moderates like that of Manchin or McCain); I'd say '08 was a simpler time. It brings a lump to your throat watching these two now. Despite being opponents, those two guys had one hell of a lot of respect for each other, and a camaraderie and rapport that some Presidents don't even have with people in their own party. I guess it could be because they both had the same values, morals and love and want to make their country the best it could be, and that's what tied them together - they were more the same than different. Now, all these years later, it's astonishing to think such a thing could actually exist given the past five years, yet there it is in plain view for all to see. Deepest respect to them both. How so very proud America must have been to have people like that looking out for them and lets be honest, you couldn't go wrong having either of them leading the country - you would be in good hands whoever won that election . That was the time, when Statesmen were running for president and, while having different approaches towards their goal in moving the USA forward, they still had respect for each other. And I still feel impressed how McCain was fighting Trump (both Republicans) from the bottom of his heart even when he knew he was about to die from cancer because he realized what a liar and selfish moron Trump was. You are a real Republican, Mr. McCain, and you are also a real patriot! You are missed!

This is why we are divided, people like you do not realize it’s not just “the other party”, both parties lost their identity ages ago, traditions broken, and cooperation outlawed. We can’t blame one party or the other for America’s wrongs, lets be real here, it’s both parties and if one cannot see that then they are blind and deaf to the world.
