the trail-braking episode is gonna be epic! I specifically would like to ask about turn-in initiation while on the brakes (corner radius dependant,of course). is the upper body proggressive lean and peg weighing the tool to initiate and "adjust" lean angle (and your line) while trail-braking? is this how you mainly steer the bike in the corners you have to brake for? thanks in advance! have a great rest of the season, champ!

Appreciate these track day tips Jonathan. Just did a track day yesterday here in Queensland Australia on my R1M. Loved it, but I have no idea about my suspension settings 😆. Although the interface is easy to use once you work it out. These tips on using reference points for vision is very useful and helpful. Need to use breaking markers and look ahead. And the tips regarding aftermarket parts was spot on. I go for feel. I want to communicate with the bike. Rear sets is a must, and aftermarket exhaust, and I’m done. No bling. Suspension settings on my R1M is next. Looking forward to your trial breaking video, I can’t wait. I found myself breaking way too early, therefore not allowing me to use trail breaking enough, sometimes not at all. Cheers Jonathan

Ultimate modification to turn a road bike into a race bike is FREE ...simply remove the side stand. Race bikes do not have side stands. Therefore, instant race bike. BOOM! You're welcome. Enjoying the vids 👍

A lot of this can be applied to road riding too.. Look where you want to go, and the bike will follow…avoid target fixation. Cheers JR, keep pushing buddy, it’s going to click into place very soon!

I don't do track riding but some of the skills are useful for general bike control on the road, so I enjoy listening to see what I can pick up that might be transferable. Going back to a comment in the first video about footpeg weighting, this is an interesting one as recently I've seen vlogs from several riders on track and road advocating this. Keith Code in his tutorials does a lot to prove footpeg weighting does nothing to steer the bike do I've dismissed it in the past but following all these videos, as I've found my 1990 GSXR750 is slow to turn (despite modern tyres and suspension work) I've tried weighting the inside peg. Well, I'm not sure what's happening but for me it DOES work. So thanks JR from an old fart who used to watch your dad race, shows you're never too old to learn if you're prepared to listen.

Good video. I have been club racing for years and nearly every crash has been due to losing focus on vision. Rarely is it due losing traction. I race a built ‘22 R1 but looking ahead is still the first thing I think about when entering the track.

Hello J.R., thank you for these awesome video tips. Could you talk about how top push on the footpegs in the different phase of the corner?!? I'm pretty sure that in the exit the pilot need to push on the outside peg, but during the entry and at the Apex?!? Thank you so much and good luck for the season ;)

Can you please explain how to weight the inner pegs on a corner as you said in your previous pro tips episode? When I do it, feels unnatural as I've always been told to weight the outside leg to then lock your leg into the tank. Thanks!

He explains it perfectly in the video. Use your feet to steer by pushing on the axis points. What you was taught will stand the bike up. Weight on the inside peg to turn the bike in

Reference points - brake, apex, exit - no reference point for turning in or are you just doing that instinctively to get to the apex you are looking for?

The first thing I learned was stop sticking my toes out. Put my toes on the pegs, 1.5 seconds faster around Brands Hatch Indy circuit on a dog slow 250cc Ducati instantly. Saved me wearing my boots out to!!!!

With reference points, make sure they are permanent and aren't going to move! No point in using a parked circuit vehicle in your line of sight that might move later!
