My personal best (all done on an arcade machine with just the three buttons, no joystick or track ball): 100m Dash: 7.99 seconds Long Jump: 9.72 meters Javelin Throw: 99.64 meters 110m Hurdles: 9.72 seconds Hammer Throw: 99.99 meters High Jump: 2.49 meters Keep in mind this was over 30 years ago and no way can I do this today, I just don't have the strength to do it anymore.

I did it as a form of creating, the Batman TV series movie reenactment. Of what took place, starting in September 7th, 1965.

To get extra distance or height, we would pound the piss out of the buttons after we jumped or released the javelin or hammer. 3rd attempt was always the furthest. We hit 2.58 on high jump!

2.52 is what I hear the limit of the arcade machine is. Those who have bested it have done so on MAME with a joystick (and my understanding is you can get 2.53 with that Big deal for one cm). No, I don't think you cheated. You maxed out the machine. That's fucking awesome. I can get to stage 251 on Galaga and I consider that beating the programmers. Congratulations. Now go do 5.96m on the Hyper sports pole vault!

I've done 2.52 in arcades with buttons. In Italy years ago there was a fad for arcades to change / butcher the original machine, putting in a very stiff little joystick, I did 2.53 with that, but not on the original buttons.

I used to do it with my eyes closed. Now I can't do it, either! Throw on the 6th spin for an easy pass. Good luck.

My personal best ( with steroids cheat ): 100m dash: 5.62" long jump: 10.43m javelin throw: 99.72m 110m hurdles: 9.40" weight: 99m high jump: 2.60m (please notice that game is set to a maximum height of 2.56m, after which the bar disappears, I saved some jumps and set a record of 2.60 but cannot consider it valid ) have fun

I remember, in 1999. I was in jail, and a few of us had a PS1. I blew away these black dudes and they couldn't believe it, then they all done it. :) Nice one, dude! Awesome memories:)

On the 2.50 hj you were high enough to clear 2.52 or even 2.53. I've done it before on mame. Try some more and I'm sure you can get it.

When I played this back in the early 80s, I got a best HJ of 2.42, when nobody else could get higher than 2.35. But to see 2.51 is ungodly. Would love to buy an old machine to play. Would never go to work again.

It was 1984 and my high jump record was 2.41. There was a boy who could jump 2.43 but I never understood how he did it. Only with MAME I realized that you had to use the joystick like when you had to run 🤦🏻♂️

I don't get how you do the high jump with the track ball that comes with the original arcade. How do you adjust the angle mid jump?

Kernzy P No I get the initial use of the jump button for angle, but he adjusts the angle in the middle of the jump arc to lift the players legs. Do you use the track ball to adjust the angle mid jump?

I play the original arcade cabinet at the local barcade. It has a jump button and a track ball. The annoying part is you have to play through all the other games before you get to the high jump so there's no way to practice just the high jump.

so what happens if you go over 10 meters in the long jump, or 100 meters in the javalin? IS it possible to get some stupidly far distance and the voice goes 'the distance, 99999.9 meters'?

Technically it's not a foul, the game just rolls the distance back to 0 once it goes over 100 meters. I've done it I think twice on the Javelin Throw and a few times on the Hammer Throw.

Yes. You can throw more than 100 meters, but the machine doesn't see the 100s digit. Twice I threw the hammer into the crowd, down the left foul line, it looked like a foul, but it gave me distances of 0.28 and 0.44 meters.

Oh Hell (Awaits), yeah!! Any Slayer fan is a friend of mine. Seen them 3 times, and I was there when they filmed "War Ensemble". Are you using buttons or joystick?

Keep hitting the run buttons between the first and second jump angles, because it increases your jump slightly ... try it

ah. well I have a small controller. but that really wouldn't change anything. in my opinion it depends on your coordination and how fast you can tap the buttons.

That's bullshit. I did 2.55 when I played this at my local arcade place in Kirkcaldy around 1986, it was a joystick Tand F machine and we played it all the time. High jump was my speciality, I had 2 tries at 2.56 but didn't get it

Video Games Galore what we did, once we figured it out, we took a magic marker and ran it super fast back and forth over the two buttons. We smashed every record we had-ran like lightning and threw for miles
