TRACK RECORD - Fastest EVER closed wheel lap at Hockenheim - McMurtry Spéirling PURE fan car

Hockenheim Record! Here’s the run down of the event containing onboard video and overtakes plus insights from Max and Thomas.
Achieving the closed wheel record whilst validating the 75% power and 75% downforce mode is a great milestone as we move towards production.
Owners of the Spéirling PURE will be able to choose from setting’s either side of this: from GT3 right through to F1 mode- to match pace and run time to suit their desires.
Thanks to Dörr Group for hosting us at their annual track day. It was a privilege to take part.

Thx, I was wondering. I am an American F1 fan, but not a purist. I don’t like the fact that it’s not competitive. As an aerospace engineer, I appreciate the technology, but it’s really a design competition on the ever changing rules specification. Money greatly influences the prize. I’ve been saying for years that fan cars would beat the current crop. This McMurtry record was only done with 75% vacuum and power. It would be interesting to see how it could do at full power. It would be nice if Monaco could be a great track again with smaller F1 cars. They’ve gotten huge so that they can make enough downforce.

The 1:24.4 was with 75% power & downforce, the difference would undoubtedly be less at max. levels.

So the lap was only done with 75% power/downforce? What could it have done in 100% mode it probably wouldnt be enough to close the gap to f1 though but I wonder how it would compare around street circuits especially monaco this thing would be insane around monaco

This was an awesome, unreal record, really happy for you guys! But... please choose a backing track for this vid that doesn't sound like the stock music behind every F150 advert. Yes, I imagine riding a high curb would make some of the downforce go away. And any reduction in downforce when you were already at the limit would take you right off the track.

This is probably a stupid question but has consideration been given to what this amazing car is doing to the track? This is about suction rather than traditional downforce so, standing still with fans operating at 100%, it is not only sucking the car to the track but it is trying to suck the track up into the car. 😏

Comments suggesting that it would do well at the Nürburgring are kinda missing the point of what makes it so quick on a tricky GP circuit. This car's amazingly nimble, but not really suited to the 'Ring, which is more about muscle than grip and finesse.

F1 qualifying laps don't get recorded as lap records but it's definitely the fastest accurate lap time recorded.

@@Shadowed007 Nah hes correct, Kimi has the lap record, Vettels lap is done in quali and therefore is the absolute lap record, which does not count as the tracks official lap record, though it is the fastest lap done on the track. Basic racing knowledge, that like 50% of the viewerbase somehow does not know anymore since atleast in F1, they as of quite recently started for some reason showing the pole laps as the lap records, which was not the case for 70 years :D
