Tracking fixed assets and the related depreciation can be quite a headache for many business owners. It doesn't have to be anymore! QBO has rolled out a fixed asset tracking module, and it is available in the Advanced version of the product.
Tracking can become automatic once the fixed asset is uploaded into the QBO system. Journal entries are automatically recorded for depreciation, and accumulated depreciation is properly tracked.

Nice video--and very well-timed for me. I just started my QBO Advanced trial (with your link, natch) yesterday. Have the chart of accounts all imported, and our multiple locations are set up--Fixed Assets are next on my agenda! Your videos have been quite helpful.

How would you record the purchase of a commercial property (land and building) and all expenses from the settlement statement? Previously we used the journal entry screen. Would you itemize expenses in the fixed asset module or record the total price and journal the line item expenses? Thanks

I watched your video and thanks. I have a question please, creating a fixed assets register how will it effect accounting report? That means I added Vehicle in Fixed Module as per your video but when I go to Balance Sheet I did not find Vehicle in Fixed Assets. Please explain me how Fixed Assets Module will auto update PL & Balance Sheet?

Hello, do you have to be in accountant view in order to add a fixed asset and setup depreciation of the asset? If you could kindly show how it should be done as a owner setting it up in the regular view

Hi - you have to have the advanced version of QBO - do you have that? It shouldn't matter what view you are in, you should have access to it if you have QBO Advanced

How does it handle an asset that's already been on the books (tracked on a separate spreadsheet and manually recorded via journal entry monthly) for some time and has depreciation expense partially recorded?

I have this question too. Surely the software would not retroactively make depreciation entries?
