@robclarke2426
@robclarke2426 9 ай бұрын
@@AndrewFolts Noooo please. the Michelin sole is bad. It makes the Tracker Forest ESC not a barefoot shoe in my opinion, the lugs are too thick and too aggressive, and because the outsole is naturally thin you end up feeling jabbed by the lugs instead of feeling the ground. They trap a LOT of mud too which adds to the weight of what is an already heavy boot. Plus the ankle support is overkill and restricts ankle mobility - it defeats the point of it all. I think Vivo have moved too far away from the original brief with the FT ESC… step back Michelin.

@@AndrewFolts Technically, you're absolutely right. However, personally, I'm a bit grossed out by the thought of wearing used shoes (even if they're professionally cleaned and refurbished) and most of them still cost more than € 100 (plus € 11 shipping) at which point I'm like "Might as well go for the actually new pairs"... I'm glad I got a bunch of them dirt cheap back in January when their German subsidiary closed down and sold off all of their stock at insane discounts (they were like € 60 to € 90). I guess that phase kinda spoiled me 😅 I'd love to get a winter pair of Xeros since they often have great sales (50 % off on certain color/size combinations), but most of their shoes are just so damn ugly. Highly subjective, of course, I just don't like the weird cross-straps design that they often use and they just look kinda clunky overall.

I expect the Mini Mil would be tougher, although I've not tried it. The FG2 sole is a hybrid of wet/firm ground grip, where as the Mini Mil is more geared towards rocky terrain and has a Vibram sole, which is the toughest rubber in the world.

How slippery is the sole when it's wet or icy outside? I have the magna trail textile ones. They are great for hiking and also have the thermal insoles, however there's 2 things I dislike: 1) they are not waterproof at all (water drops basically now travel through the shoe directly into my socks, although they used to be a bit repelling when they were new) and 2) the soles are horrible on snow/ice. Which many shoes are, but for a winter shoe, more grippy would be nice. For example, I find Sole Runner soles much grippier
@AndrewFolts
@AndrewFolts 9 ай бұрын
The tread's only semi-aggressive, so it's not going to grip as well on wet/icy hills. For that you'd want the Tracker Winter, which is also waterproof but has a much more aggressive tread. bit.ly/3tO2N7e

Yea, my seem great so far, but I've heard some people are having quality control issues with the Textile. It's called the "FG," so it's meant for firm ground mostly. If you want more grip, then the Tracker "SG" would be what you'd want.

Hey, dont know if you will see this comment...but I was wondering what you think of the tip of the shoes. Like how does it feel on your toes? Because for me, i had to return my tracker decons because the leather was too hard for my toes and started to get blisters from rubbing against it. I returned the leather trackers (not the textile), just because i didnt need them at the moment (they made my feet so so sweaty, obviously being waterproof would do that). But i dont think the leather on those was as bad as the decons. So just wondering how hard the front of the shoe is? And if you can feel it on the top of your toes. Or how flexible the front of the shoe is. Anyway feel like ive rambled. Would appreciate any input. Just been trying to find a good barefoot shoe for walking in the rain...or for stepping in puddles...that isn't made with leather. If you had any recommendations for that too id appreciate it. Edit: definitely considering the Howgill by Freet. Mostly based on your videos. They seem like they would be the best of both worlds. Pretty good water protection...and the toe box is more open, flexible, and not hard. Only issue is you said they aren't too great for walking on flatter surfaces like roads.
@AndrewFolts
@AndrewFolts 28 күн бұрын
The Tracker Decon seemed very soft to me in the toes, although I had the JFF, not sure if it's different. Never had a problem with the Textile toes, they seemed softer than the Tracker FG, although the new version might be different, haven't tried it. The Textile is also WP, so yea, it can get sweaty in warm weather, same goes for the Howgill (and not good for roads, as you noted), although it's a bit more breathable being lower cut. It's a win-lose situation with WP, unfortunately. If you're doing like 50/50 roads trails, then the Vivo Magna Lite WR SG might be one to look at. The lugs will wear faster on hard ground, but they actually feel pretty good on all terrain and the upper is water resistant without being too sweaty. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ppeFmdWS3eCbqmw.html
