I immigrated from France to Dublin, Ireland in 1999 and I started living in The Liberties, around Pilmico which interestingly was populated by Huguenots weavers in the 18th century, and gave names to streets like Fumbally lane in Dublin. The grand son of La Touche, who owned loads of land south of Dublin around Greystone, co-founded Bank of Ireland. I am also aware of Portalinton where Huguenot got land by William the orange after the battle of the Boyne, which I visited, and where escargot eating competition are/were organized LoL. Lisburn had a Huguenot colony, who set up linen and silk weaving manufacturing. One can visit the Linen museum in Lisburn, co Antrim. Irish writer, Samuel Beckett was the descendant of French Huguenots “Becquet”. Accidently I also visited franschhoek in South Africa where Huguenot immigrated and set up wineries, and also visited Postdam in Germany which had also a huge Huguenot population.

My husband and I are reformed Christians that follow John Calvin's teachings. We did not know about the many Huguenots ancestors I am related to that settled in New Paltz, New York (DuBois, LeFevre, DeMarois, Bevair, Louw and many more). My ancestors attended Dutch Reformed churches in New York for many years. I hope to be able to share the documents I need to show my lineage. Thank you for the work you are doing. We are now, again, in a fight for our freedoms as our governments insist on mandates that are keeping us from our religion, our friends, family and sources of income! Godspeed!

My surname leads back to southern France and French Huguenots. It’s been difficult to research because they changed the spelling a few times and had to keep moving. Mine Poteet/Poteat settled in America in the southern states and seen spelled a few different ways so idk for sure. I find it fascinating and heartbreaking at the same time. Thank you for sharing. My relative was Jacob Remy Son of Pierre Remy, son of Jaques Remy, son of (noble) Georges Remy son of Diedier Remy a French noble. He fled as a Huguenot to England had his lands in France seized, came to America as an indentured servant. Married his masters daughter, was freed, died with his own land and an American citizen. My grandfather LaFamond Reamy, his eventual grandson made his way to Texas where we are now. I Could've been nobility, at least I'm a Texan, I'll take that!

Just discovered my 10th Great Grandfather was Guillaume Jourdain, clockmaker in Spitalfields. His son Nicholas was a silk weaver. His shopfront still exists, the oldest in London.

Many Huguenots settled in Rhode Island, Long Island, New York. Many Anglicized their names (Blanc/White). I had a particularly hard time with my d'Aubert ancestors whose name got mangled into Ober. Some took refuge in Amsterdam and Zurich and ended up with Dutch names they took to America. Others settled a town in Wales called Fleur de Lis and then left for America after a couple of generations, so all those we thought were Welsh were actually French. The Huguenot Society is a great resource.

I'm in Utah, USA. Most of my ancestors are from England. Scotland and Denmark. That said. I have one known Huguenot ancestor, a Mathieu Agee who fled Nantes in 1688, subsequently helped William of Orange in his campaign, earning him free passage to Virginia in the New World. His descendant and my ancestor later met LDS (we were nicknamed Mormons) missionaries in Tennessee and traveled to Utah with other LDS faithful.

My Huguenot ancestors settled in Virginia, USA in 1700 or 1702. One of the surnames was Maupin possibly shortened from de Maupin.

My Huguenot family was D’estelle before moving to the Netherlands and became Estill and estell, some of the other family of d’estelle moved directly to England and Switzerland where one became king of Switzerland or something. Then some moved moved to England became Esdaile, one became Lord Mayor of London. The estells who came to America in 1664 help create New Jersey agriculture and housing around estell manor,New Jersey

My ancestors came From France to Virginia. Our family’s name is Reneau, previously Reno in 1600’s, but originally traced to Louis Reynaud I. Changed to Reneau in 1700’s

I know I have Huguenot ancestry on my mother's side but there are also a couple of families on my father's side that I want to trace back; not sure about them. I have a couple of questions I will ask you via email. Past and present are colliding with the huge number of refugees from Ukraine and elsewhere nowadays. Let's find it in our hearts to give what help we can to them.

Enjoyed your presentation. I can track for a certainty that my 12th generation Grandfather (Eduard Bompasse) arrived at Plymouth Colony in the New World in 1621. He is on the passenger list of the ship, The Fortune. I had many other family members trying to go backwards from him. It is suggested that he is not only a Huguenot but a Walloon as well. Think I have watched every Huguenot video now on here haha, but after researching the family name, we found a direct link to France of our distant relative who fled Angers, France (from memory) around the mid/late1600s. We have actually writings of his and his will, and we know he left is hurry on a small vessel to England escaping the dragonnades. We also found a few other Huguenot cemetery records but have not been able to make the connection if they are related.

The best way to track down your ancestors is thru DNA. There is a research project on DuBois line and there are literally thousands listed just in this one line alone. Bush is listed as well as Robert Patterson, Jack Black, Marlin Brando ( we are many).

I actually have a question. so I have been really interested in finding out more about my genealogy after seeing my great great great grandfathers grave. I'm originally from the United States in the rocky mountains so I did find some danish, British and Scottish ancestry. I wasn't surprised by this but what really shocked me was that I found many Huguenot ancestors that I'm related to. there are some distant german ancestors that I'm related to but some of them have french surnames such as Lamotte, Clade, and one ancestor I couldn't find anything about the parents except for ancestry and my heritage and the mothers maiden name is "Larabe" or "Larabee" but her son came from Germany in the mid-1700s. were these guys also huguenots? how can I find out more about these ancestors when there's very little information about them?

I have a family named Lahive in Ireland. They are from Munster, particularly the regions of Limerick and Cork. The name always sounded French, and I wondered if there was any connection. I've found records of "Lahive" in Aisne, Northern France from the early 1600s to the late 1800s. I've traced my ancestors back to 1850 with actual records in Ireland, but it turns out there are no records with that surname before this time. Where else in the world are they before this cut-off point? France. So I have good reason to believe that's the connection. I have no clue on how to really prove this yet.

So my great grandpa was a German; left Germany and came to the US in 1956. So I come from a proud German family, but my great grandfather was also descended from the Huguenots. I asked my mom once if that means we are actually part French, but she said she didn’t know. I still always wonder about the Huguenots. If it is a part of my heritage, I want to know more.

First and foremost, no Albion is a Huguenot. Huguenots are Moors who fled the inquisition ( persecution of Catholic Church).
