I’m from California, born and bred, and it’s so strange to me how many comments I’ve seen from people making jokes about us being taken out with the tides. We’re one country. No matter my political beliefs (or lack thereof) I couldn’t fathom making jokes or wishing destruction on any state, for any reason. For some reason it made me sad to see all the vitriol… surely people will suffer during this event and I wish more of us could see through the political BS and stand United….. but anyway… fantastic coverage from this weatherman, thanks CBS!!! Sending prayers to all my Californians, we got this ❤

To those downplaying this bc it’s weakening, yes the winds will slow down, but the amount of rain coming will not. There WILL be catastrophic flooding in certain areas regardless of wind speed, and I pray for those living in these areas. I live in an area not prone to flooding, but we are preparing for power outages due to downed trees, just in case. Nothing wrong with being prepared.

This is not a huge hurricane but it’s also not Florida or Mississippi. They are not used to this and don’t know how to prepare and are probably scared.

This is why it is a GOOD thing the Pacific ocean off the SoCal coast is cold ! Also-Tropical Storm Kathleen Sept. 1976. The coast didn't get near as much as the deserts-but I do remember vividly the pretty powerful thunderstorms & fairly heavy rainfall in San Carlos-also the heat !
