Nice interview that felt natural and relaxed, while getting the point across about risk and funding. Great job!

Given the current events..should of already had these monitoring stations. I was 29 miles from St.Helens when it blew in 1980..better pay attention to all..especially Adams..it has three cones! Dont forget the quiet Indian Heaven shares the same chamber as St Helens. Why they are just now putting monitoring stations is just mind blowing. St Helens was no joke in 1980!

It’s because knowledge simply put, St Helen’s eruption truly revealed so much about volcanoes that was unknown at the time. For instance they didn’t expect the volcano to erupt laterally and were expecting it to erupt vertically at the summit. It’s the most studied eruption since and since that eruption much more funding goes into monitoring them. The equipment is not cheap whatsoever

When I was a kid, I would sit behind my bus driver, he would tell me stories of him serving Vietnam, to being a recovery clean up pilot that flew a huey helicopter, he said they went in with these giant nets that were used to cleanup the dead animals, he also said there were lots of sasquatch that were found in the area. .

You would think that our government would ensure that there was funding for what is needed here in the United States before sending billions in Aide to other countries.

Pretty stupid comment when 1% is dependent on the amount. You must be from Ukraine. Math helps you look less stupid. Carry on peasant.

If the federal government stopped wasting so much money on its useless defense budget -- only a small portion of which actually supports the military -- there would be plenty of money available for all sorts of important things like volcano monitoring and necessary foreign aid. Of course, the idiots could accomplish the same thing simply by taxing the rich fairly...

I think the scientist guy should define remote area. Glacier Peak really isn’t that far away from civilization and what is remote? There will be catastrophic issues if that volcano erupts so please define remote for us so we can understand what your meaning of that is.

Previous pyroclastic flows from glacier peak went right through the valleys to the sea. Roads are nothing to a volcano. @@rakeshmalik5385
