Common sense would have been to back up the side of the ditch and drop the cultivators and make a ramp to get out ! Common sense isn't very common I guess.

Simple fix: Going up a hill is easier if you go on an angle. If you try to go straight up gravity takes over.

Easy!!!! What I would have done is to take the front axle off one tractor, join it then to the other one to make a triple doe, which then have the power and grip to get straight out of the ditch, hence being able to throw one implement, one driver and one front axle away. Lol.
