Why would CJ MCOLLUM start next to Dejounte Murray??? Why not start Trey Murphy & Herbert Jones as your 2 & 3?? Trey offers way more 2 way Athletic versatile ability than CJ… just bring him off the bench as a 6th man.. 🤷🏾‍♂️ just saying, a lineup of Dejounte, Herb, Trey, & Zion would be a headache to play in a juggernaut western conference..

Lets look at CJ's 2023-24 stats: FG% = .459; 3PT% = .429 (career high); FT% = .827; RPG = 4.3; APG = 4.6; SPG = .9; BPG = .6 (career high); PPG = 20.0. Now explain to me why you want to bench a starter with 10 years of NBA experience & who has won a playoff series? I agree TM3 needs to get some significant playing time but like him or not, CJ is their veteran leader who is a productive player!

@@coreyrubin5290 Defense, age and fit. If you have Murray, Herb and Murphy as the 1, 2 and 3, those are long athletic players who can guard 1-4 and switch. C.J. certainly has value, but the Pelicans should be open to trading him if they can get another long athletic and younger 3 and D player or a center.

@@Don-md6wn I agree with what you are saying that the best move would be to be in the position to trade CJ for a younger long and athletic 3 & D player/center, but I was responding to the comment of him still being on the team and coming off the bench which makes no sense to me until TM3 shows that he can be more consistent and aggressive during clutch time. He tends to disappears when he is needed to step up and take over a game. CJ will at least try even if he may miss those shots!

Dejounte is a good dude but him and Trae just didn’t fit and if you have to choose between the two is Trae Young hands down. Hawks now have picks in the next 3 drafts again and added on a poa defender which is what the hawks need next to Trae Young. The Trae Young will make the offense work but they had to get better on D. Adding a former Lottery pick that can do that along with replacing the picks they lost in the Murray trade was worth it. Win win

I think this is a big move because we didn’t have to move Ingram to get Murray. Otherwise I’m not sure this moves the needle too much. We still need a big, no way the rookie C we got is going to be able to start game 1 without getting completely outclassed.

It goes up either next year or the following year and once Ingram resigns his new contract doesn’t kick in until then. Cj is 32 years old and making 33 million dollars pelicans are not keeping that dude for two more years. I know you hate Ingram but ain’t nobody about to make dumb trades like you suggested because you hate ingram for no reason. And Murray and ingram are best friends off court. They could have played in Atlanta together and the pelicans could have had trae young but they specifically wanted Murray. Mo Wagner would be a nice pickup but I highly doubt Orlando lets him go. I believe Thomas Bryant could be nice cheap option for this team, decant rim runner, hustle guy and could step out an hit a couple occasional 3s. Drew Eubanks would be a good choice as well he shot 38% from 3 last season

Dyson really isn't a big miss. He is so broken on offense that his defense is a wash. It also forces Hawkins and 1nd rounder Antonio on the court. Shooters around Zion. This is currently an offensive league. 8+ teams were setting offensive sive ppg records last year. Scoring is needed.

Excited to hear what's next. Obviously Bi is polarizing to the fan base. I feel like it might come down to if he's willing to take less than the max. Odds are no, but if he was willing to accept less I could see them resigning him and finding a cheaper option at Center. Maybe they can move CJ's contract. Not sure. Excited to see what's next.

A phenomenonal trade would NOT have included three first rounders (counting Daniels). It also wouldn't include a starter for Atlanta, a versatile vet, and developing front courter. Depending on how Murray works out, it's a good trade, just not better than that.

Whether you like him or not, CJ is their veteran leader who is still a productive NBA player! The stats don't lie. The team has lost Larry Nance, Jr. and about to lose JV so the answer is not putting CJ on the bench. He's the veteran who needs to lead this young team. Zion and BI aren't there yet. My opinion is if Zions game doesn’t develop from a one level scorer to at least a two level score with a consistent 3 ball this team will always struggle to find players to put around him. There’s not a lot big man who can consistently shoot 3s and to put the burden on the other 3 perimeter players to shoot 3 to cover up Zion lack of shooting isn’t going show result.

Naw having a point guard change a lot cause they can’t load up the paint if he don’t have the ball Zion good at getting in position to score off ball so it’s hard to guard we just literally haven’t had a guard since lonzo that had a good iq that’s why Zion dominated with lonzo the offense better when Zion at gotta be the point guard cause he not a point guard

Yup. The Bucks are able to make it because they hit a home run on Lopez. You literally need a center with a big body to set screens for Zion and the ability the stretch the floor. That’s why I found it funny that people complained about drafting Missi. It’s hard to find the perfect center next to Zion at least Missi can do some things right

Now trade Ingram and CJ for a good defensive center. Go small ball alot with Murray, Hawk, Herb, Trey, Zion. And bring in the new center and the backup Missi when needed.

If we need a defensive center why keep JV? On paper this roster is helluva deep, you got 7 starter and bench player. If guys buy into their rolls and stay healthy. Somebody gotta win 6th man of the year award.

DJ shit 7 3s a game at 36%. It's not a huge improvement over BI but the volume is way better. So it solves it int he threat level. You also get a guy who can run the offense and the PnR. I truly believe his offensive drop was due to Trae being so ball dominant and the ball came out DJ's hand. I think DJ is gonna be a 22pt 7ass 4reb player here while being a defensive menace next to Herb while getting rod of 2 guys that dint shoot, while keeping BI on roster still to gather assets. The trade was very positive imo.

⁠@@taylor_m_237you’re asking for a lot from DJM lol 22 and 7 while being a defensive menace is unrealistic. He hasn’t been great defensively since the spurs and that’s because he’s been asked to do more offensively and with that the most he’s averaged is 22 points. I think realistically he’ll average 16-18 and 8 assist while going back to his defensive roots. Also if pels keep BI (they should) I can’t imagine him average more than 20. Zion, BI, CJ, and Trey that’s alot of scorers already. He’s still a great pick up though and addresses a lot of needs the pels needed.

@@alexsanchez2719 22 pts isabout avg for what he has had the last 3 years. 7 is barely below what he hadlast year. Being in Atl hurt him offensively and defensively. He needs the ball in his hands and Trae is one of the most ball dominant players in the league, whoch hurt his assists. His defense went down playing next to Teae You basically have to cover both. Him b3ing away from another lead ball handler is gonna help him a lot. As for 22 and 7. That is literally just 1 more assist than he avg last year with the same pts. Seems very realistic
