If i bought a stock. Let's say a weird one. And it's price go down. And people are not willing to pay more then for what I bought, but company is huge and will go up in some time. Few months and all, so i can hold the stock, right? And if I hold the stock and if it pay dividend. Div is gonna be high as its price is low at that time. Right. If that is what is happening It is still profitable. Right? I'll be getting dividend quarterly or whatever, and whenever the price will go above for what I bought, I can sell it.

Just an insight... As a medical student.... I will say there is always bounderies to the knowledge the patient can absorb and have compared to a doctor... patients can figure out concepts about the drug and thier symptoms but will never be enough to definitively diagnosed their disease, integrate their knowledge to overall picture of their health and be their own doctor... they can watch youtube videos a learn a lot about their symptoms or disease but should remember that the information is just superficial and is never a substitute to the 4 years of medical school and more years of residency training a physician possess... this also applies to any financial stuff explanation in the internet... watch everything but never trust it is enough for you to pass beginner level until you learn more than what is in youtube and online. It may seem easy and comprehensive but remember it is much more difficult and comprehensive... you will never piece out everything from multiple videos... read books from trusted personalities... take trusted online courses... read more books and integrate them to the videos until you reach the point where you can commentate on what the video failed to explain, does not tell etc... until then can you say i am not a beginner coz i learned more than the basics... that will be the difference of the knowledge a patient have before giving an informed consent for a treatment compared to a physicians knowledge about what, how, when, where and why do the patient need that treatment... Again, just an insight and am pretty sure you all already know this stuff...

Hi everyone, Please kindly answer this basic question: If I buy a share for $100.00 and I lose all of it(100%), that means that money is gone or the money is there and can wait until the stock goes up and the 100 make more money? Like gambling, if you lose your money, you have to put another money and the first time money is gone. The reason I am Asking is that Warren Buffet says that when the market is not doing well in the short term, you have plane for the long term goal and the stock will go up and then you can sell for higher profit. Thank you!

I have the opposite problem from people who think, "I'm going to get into the stock market and become a millionaire overnight". I lack _enough_ confidence. I'm thinking of how many thousands of people through the years have thought they'd get into the stock market and be successful just to lose a bunch of money - and I don't believe I'm any smarter than a lot of them. Ideally, I'd like to start with paper trading/stock simulators, then move on to a small account, then just gradually grow. And I want to do both long and short-term - like invest in something and let it grow for years but also do the short term trend-watching, buy/sell by the day type thing. I'm as dumb as a mud-fence about everything right now, but I'm trying to learn. I've always said it's less about how much you know and more about your _capacity_ to learn - like how much water is in the tank versus how big the tank is. We'll see I guess. I'm 34 and I've literally wanted to do this since I was probably 8-10. My wife makes a lot of money and _a lot_ more than me, but I just mentioned getting in the stock market to her and she said okay - but she wants me to deal with it because she doesn't know anything about it. I just don't want to lose a bunch of her/our money. I have the patience of a saint, so I do have some level of confidence in my long-term investing ability. The main thing I don't understand right now is how people lose everything in the stock market. I understand taking losses on certain stocks, but it just doesn't seem likely if all of your eggs aren't in the same basket so to speak. Because at the very root of it (and I know this is a gross, haphazard over-simplification) it's about buying for a lower price and selling for a higher price - unless the stock/company is just falling through the floor, going bankrupt or out of business, why not hold on to it? And how would one manage to find themselves in that situation often enough to financially ruin themselves? I'm sure I'm being naive, but it seems like with a "diverse portfolio", you're bound to pick at least a few good stocks that'll do well by random chance... I'm sure I sound just like every other person who's ever tried and failed in the stock market. I know if it was as straightforward as all of that, we'd all be millionaires.

No man sometimes it doesn't bounce at all. Its called a "losing trade" because it can keep going down and down. I knew a guy who bought a company in 2017 HTGM before they do a reverse split. It ran from 1 dollars to 11 he bought when it went down to 6 and it went down day by day month by month year by year until 2020. it went below a dollar at 0.4 and he sold witha huge loss to a point his account blown and hes emotionally and psychologically depressed atm. You need a stop loss.

The most popular way people lose money on stocks or cryptocurrency is to sell for less than what you paid for it. If you pay $1.00 for a share and the next day it drops to 1 penny and stays at 1 penny for a year…you didn’t lose .99 cents 😐 Say after that year, the price of that stock went to $10.00 and you’re still holding😃…it may be time to take the profit. The chances of a stock going to 0 are less than the chances of it going higher than what you paid for it 💁‍♂️

Well I'm kinda new to investing and I do get the basics, the only reason I ended up here is because of a question that was on my mind that I still do not have a answer for, let's say I bought a stock at 15$ it goes all the way down to 5$. Now I'm going to hold ofc because that's my only hope because selling will make me lose more money, but do I lose my because of holding? And no I'm no talking about stock value I'm talking about if my broker account should have money to cover up my losses like fund them thx

Can someone tell me if you can lose more money than you invest? And if you have invested into a stock and they was no buyers, is they a time limit as to when you have to sell or can you just leave it invested and hope maybe it will go up eventually? Literally only just contemplated trading this morning but with no knowledge whatsoever I thought I would just watch some vids and ask some questions. Any help would be appreciated thanks 🙏🏼

This is great and clear but I'm a bit confused re how superannuation works. If I have a lump in my super do they invest all of it or parts and what happens if there are crashes like March 2020? Do I just lose part of my investment? Could I feasibly end up with less super if shares are sold low to cut losses? Also, don't most companies pay out dividends end of financial year? Do you have to be holding shares at dividend pay out time to get that dividend? If you buy and sell all the time I guess that's how you're getting return not waiting for dividends

I did see the video and the concept makes so much sense. But I have a question. Let’s say you want to invest in a stock that cost $500 but you don’t have $500 you can only buy about $100. When do you lose money then? If it also until the entire stock value for that company drops to 0 or if it goes down $100 and now it’s worth $400 instead of $500 do you lose the $100 you invested? Or if it drops but never reaches $0 and later on as time goes it comes back up and passes $500 do I still have my $100 y initially invested and now have more than what I started with? Sorry also a newbie tried it a couples years ago but didn’t really understand it and that’s been my question. Thank you.

So let’s say a market does pay a dividend, $1 every 3 months. Meanwhile one share cost $25. If you invested in one stock, $25, and the businesses value dropped dramatically, and it keeps dropping, why not just stay in and wait until you made that money back via dividends? Sure, it’ll take a long time, but if you will barley get any money back by the time you realized you made a mistake and pull out, why not just basically throw the rest away (cuz it’ll keep diminishing) in exchange for free money every 3 months (I heard dividend values don’t fluctuate.) I get that this is a small analogy, but in a bigger analogy you would also be payed bigger dividends, so it’s the same ratio.
