We've had a 2520 diesel on the farm since 1978 with a loader. Still using it. Good tractor

I liked it when he started talking about being a kid and cutting corn stalks and it was a big field and small implement and thinking it would take forever. Also when he said he never knew his dad's version of a few good job

I try to not be color biased when I do these videos, but that one just slipped out pavlovian unintentionally 😂

My dad filled 60' Harvestores with a 7140 magnum with a Farmhand hammer mill/blower combo and it got a workout!

I have a 1970 2520 diesel syncro range. You can see mine in several of the videos on my you tube channel, “ Tractor Talk With Gary “ We didn’t get ours new. Bought it at a farm sale for $8500 in 78

I thought all of the side consoles had the long crooked shifter?

I come from a John Deere family. Grand dad had a dealership in the 40s and 50s. We had 4020s. I worked some for my Ford neighbor where they were turned up souped up and we ran them all day long at 2600 rpms, I came home and plowed with a turbod 4020 at 2500 rpms. A piston scrubbed in less than two hours. We were taught NOT to over ride the throttle. Because a Junk Deere wont take it.

I could handle 2500 all day long. Add a turbo and add heat with no piston cooler jets.

I think a 2520 was a 3020 chassis with a 2020 engine. Seems like they went backwards with a big frame and smaller engine. Of course, a small chassis and big engine could get you into trouble too

2520 had a larger engine and more hp then a 2020.

Nothing shares or swaps between the two 3020 runs a Waterloo engine with integral flywheel housing and the 2520 runs a Dubuque engine with separate flywheel housing

I bet a 730 diesel could run circle around a 2520 diesel

Nope!

I had a 820 diesel and really loved it. They were as neck and neck as could be Even the fuel economy was really close. The advantage the 2520 had was ground speed plowing. We learned to let the 2520 go first followed by the 720. Eventually the /520 would catch up and I would pull to the side at the end and let the 2520 go on around and fall in behind
