You’ll see how teams that have traded up for a QB have often overpaid, missed out on other talent, and ended up with disappointing results.
So, before you get too excited about your team’s potential franchise QB, watch this video and learn why trading up for a top 10 QB in the NFL draft is a historically bad idea.

Young has literally only played 2 NFL games so far and has played solid for a rookie, decent for a starter. It’s way way too early to call him a bust. If what his teammates are telling the media about his work ethic and football intelligence are true, I think he will be a star in 2 seasons. Put it simply, Young is way too young right now. He needs development. Maybe also an offensive coordinator that will let him go deep more than once a game as well.

yes young is definitely young right now

Agreed. Sometimes, it takes entire teams a couple games to get going. See: Pete Caroll Seahwawk teams. Young has been great at every level.

Sorry about Bryce. I probably wouldn’t have done it. But we have Jalen. I’m from NC though, so I feel your pain. I did NOT know that Watson was still on the board when Mahommes was picked. What a good pick

Franchise altering pick for Chiefs! Yea, last night was rough but it's more the o line than bryce, but still...rough season ahead.

@@AnotherSportsChannelbryce will be solid, dont worry about that. I dont think bryce will ever be a world beater in the nfl but i do think he has solid starter written all over him. Sucks yall had to get rid of moore but i think stability in the qb room is more important then a wr1

As Mahomes perfectly illustrates even if statistically it might be a bad idea it’s a chance you often have to be willing to take especially for the extent to which it can elevate your team.

The difference is that the chiefs didn’t have to give up as much. They also had Alex Smith, who was a great mentor for him

Bryce Young hasn’t been great or terrible this far. I’ve seen snippets of his play through Red Zone & MNF and he certainly passed the eye test for me. The organization needs to get an offensive line to protect him and weapons to help him out before the media starts questioning the move & he loses his confidence.

I know you used RG3 as an example of a bust. But when it comes to sports I don’t think you can justifiable call a player a bust because their career was riddled with injury. That cannot be controlled.

Agreed. Plus, I think allowing/making him play while his knee wasn't anywhere near recovered after his first horrific injury was the majority of the nails in the proverbial coffin. Especially when it wasn't necessary for neither him nor the team that he played. He was a mobile quarterback, and they tried to make him a pocket passer. I think had he been on almost any other team that wasn't owned by Snyder, he would've probably had some longevity. I almost believe, with the rumors about his father not getting along with the team's coaches or TPTB, they may have broken him on purpose.

In that case, I would blame the organization and head coach for starting him too soon. If he was given the offseason and enough time to recover, it may have been a different story. But it wasn't. This is why successful teams are good top to bottom.

Being a Chiefs fan I have to point out that Mahomes’ style of play fit well in Reid’s style of offense. It he had gone elsewhere the results may have been much different. The mix in KC is magic and will be so for many years. Mahomes is devoted to Reid and vice versa. Reid is a play designing genius who will always find ways to utilize Mahomes skill rather than trying to make Mahomes fit into a differently designed offense.

I will say, the draft in general the odds are against you. Trading for a top 10 pick for a QB is a move that won’t always pay off, but when it does, you stand to gain EVERYTHING. Where as sticking and picking late in the draft might be more likely to net you a good starter, a 25% chance at a superstar QB is more valuable than a 50% chance at a good non-QB.

Didn't include him because he wasn't a Top 10 pick and he fell to the Steelers, they didn't trade up for him. However, they almost drafted a lineman instead of Ben. Safe to say they made the right decision that night lol
