This is a Turkish Cypriot dish invented by Chef Ali in Nicosia. He named it Chef Ali kebab when his customers loved it and ask him what it was called. Over the years people started to called this Şeftali kebab as it kind of sounded like Chef Ali. Şeftali means Peach 🍑 in Turkish. So this name stuck with this dish ever since. I cannot believe someone’s trying to come up with a alternative story. This is obviously made up for political reasons as always

@@SuperNova-nl5eb They said Turkish CYPRIOT not Turkish, as a greek Cypriot its important to remember the fact that Cypriot "thing" have come from a long tradition of greek Turkish and Venetian customs.

Your post can't go without a reply.First the post is referring to Cypriot food,so Turkish Cypriot is still Cypriot.Get that into your thick skull.Cypriots are 80% GC,18% TC and the other 2% Armenians,Maronites and Latinos.Just recently a TC manufacturer got his Halloumi,Hallim in TC,passed by the government of Cyprus.Now Google Halloumi and it will say that the earliest account of Halloumi in Cyprus was mentioned at around 300 AD.Should the GCS start slagging you off because you make it as TCS and call it Hallim?As 18% of the population you have caused enough trouble as it is.Stop behaving like a wanker and enjoy the fact that there are some wonderful things made by Cypriots,including the food.
