I went to Peru in 2012 and the food was out of this world. The yellow chicken dish at 10:27 is called Aji De Gallina. It changed my life. Seriously.

For real, I am Peruvian and I live in PA, my mother came to visit from Peru two weeks ago, she made all the dishes, including aji de gallina, i told her she should open a restaurant here in the US, what do you think? should I encourage her

What a wonderful country Peru is. I was hungry all the time when I visited. All the ingredients are super fresh and colorful. They are very kind with tourists, I felt home. I am Brazilian but everything was so different from my country there, even though we are neighbors. God, the smell of chicha morada all over the streets, the fish, the amazing potatoes and corn. I miss even the giant popcorn kernel thing they give you for free at every bar/restaurant. I love Peru! 🇵🇪

Seriouly Puerto rico? wtf man as a Dominican who lived in Peru, caribean food (including puerto rican food) does not compare at all man to Peru man, Not even the french cook so nice (unless you like more mild food, ofc) and even if you dont like a particular Peruvian dish are over 4000 different types of them not kidding look that up, peru is one if not the most diverse cuisine in latinamerica and perhaps the world.

@Aless. Lom. Sorry but the awards and the approval of the community goes to peru. You can say the best food is from haiti.. That doesn't make it the best...your word against the Consecutive Winning awards for Peru.. I love Mexican food and have tried Brazilian food a lot..and turn o man not even close..its good but not better..i would say peru then Mexico my go to favorites.

u should bro im from NYC and my girl is puerto rican and i took her to some Peruvian restaurant here in the city is wavy but nothing compare to my actual roots. U wont regret it and its a great exp especially if u love sea food, try Jalea.

Peruvian food is amazing. So much variety, so many flavors. Huancaina sauce, arroz con pollo, Tripe, Rocoto, Cau cau. So jelly right now. One of my favorite Latin food. You chose a good country to start and I am not even Peruvian.

I recomended call these dishes for the same name. Nada que ponerle nombres gringos se escribe tal cual. Papa a la huancaina, arroz con pollo, etc. Porque som sustantivos de mombres propios usados por una naciom entera. No puedes cambiarle el nombre y tratar de hacer traslate . Dato me lo dijo una linguista

Yo disfrutaba esos banquetes de buffet en Peru en los tiempos que trabajaba allí. Fueron momentos deliciosos. Grandes recuerdos con mis compañeros de trabajo. Extraño esos tiempos de buffet exclusivos en la empresa que trabajaba.

What I love about Mike is even if he finds something lacking in a food item, he mentions it briefly but then quickly moves over to tell what, he feels, is good about that food item. Positive vibes all around.

I am Peruvian and the dish you said you needed to identify looks like carapulcra. It’s one of my favorite too!! Also... that’s really crazy you were eating all that without rice in the beginning! Always eat rice. Everyday rice. Every dish to me was served like half a plate of whichever meat/potato dish and half plate of rice. I’m also Chinese! So, shout out to the Asians ✌🏻 Also... Mike! I'am so excited you came to Perú! There is lot of great places and it just makes me happy that you enjoyed your time here. The dish with pork is called Carapulcra, it's sun-dry potato with juicy pork, Ají de pollo is the yellow spicy chiken and the pourple corn dessert is called mazamorra morada ;)

Gallina translate hen, so basically the same I guess. Personally I don't find the flavor to be different and most peruvians just use chiken for the convenience. Good luck dude!

Mike if you are doing a Southamerican tour please just stay in Peru. Im from Chile and I've been to Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay and Peru, and I can tell that the best food is served in Peru, by far. Oh man I miss that ají de gallina, Cuzco is the only place I've actually enjoyed it.

They probably were trying to figure out if he was Peruvian or not. There are tons of Asians in Peru, hence the "chifa" food which is a mixture of Peruvian and chinese/Cantonese/Sichuan food

You're right about the rice. We eat rice with almost every dish lol! Im so excited you went to Peru!!! Btw you should try the Pollo a la brasa from another restaurant, it's usually ALLLLL juicy and a little more seasoned.

The chicken in the yellow creamy sauce is Aji de gallina and yes it’s so simple hearty and delicious. The Cau Cau is so good when is well done same thing with the pollo a la brasa or rotisserie chicken ! Carapulcra is a stew made with dry potatoes , chucks of beef chicken and pork Peruvian cuisine is one of the best in the world , very diverse I can’t wait to go visit my country

Aunque el Cebiche sea lo más conocido espero que los demás platos también tomen protagonismo, de igualmanera en el turismo aunque Machupichu sea lo más conocido Peru tiene en distintos departamentos hermosos lugares turísticos que tranquilamente hacen la competencia a Machupichu! I have been watching you since I came across the ramen in Osaka video and just came across this one. The fact that you went to Peru makes me so happy, but that you enjoyed the food makes me it even better. I’m originally from there but live in NY. Lo malo de los coterraneos peruanos es que dicen la mejor del mundo, porque la mayoría es decir el 99% nunca se han atrevido a cruzar las fronteras para experimentar nuevos sabores sólo se fijan de lo que dicen los turistas que llegan a Perú, pero no saben que esos mismos turistas recorren el mundo y a cada país que visitan dicen lo mismo, osea que es la mejor comida y el mejor país que han visitado. El perua o tiene que salir y atreverse a probar nuevos sabores por eso que siempre tenemos esa mediocridad de confiarnos en lo que otros os dicen y no comprobarlo uno mismo. Ojalá que el peruano deje ese temor esa mediocridad y sea superado y no mirar con la cabeza enterrada en el piso. Solo así su opinión tendrá mucho más validez y será respetado en el mundo. Así como lo hace este personaje, o el chileno o el argentino que cuando pisan tierra peruana entran con pana y muy campechano y a sus anchas a probar y a pedir y a exigir sin temor y sin complejos.
