Mikes reactions are always seem genuine and honest. When he does get excited about a dish it doesn’t come across as exaggerated or contrived rather just pure hoy and contentment - a truly vicarious experience.

Great narration Mike, keep up the great videos. You positively express your flavour likes and dislikes providing honest opinions on the food you taste. I have watched other videos but they do not come close to yours as you tell it like it is. Well done!

Props for giving your honest opinions about all the foods, instead of pretending that every dish is the best thing you ever ate. When travelling around the world, it's not uncommon to go to a restaurant you've been looking forward to, and finding that the food does not meet expectations. And nice entertaining video with nice food.

OK the best fatty pork rice in Taiwan is in Taipei at this hole in the wall place called jingfeng minced pork or 金峰魯肉飯. The line is around the corner from 9 AM till 10 PM. It's near the Taipei train station. Literally people are waiting next to your table to get a seat. My hotel was near by I waited three days before finally the line died down to only 15 people at 10 pm while it was raining. Very small menu and everyone gets the pork rice than the butter Mellon rib soup. There is another place with similar name this one is the best. They have the mince meat noodles.

Mandarin Chinese! Cantonese is really only used in Hong Kong and a few southeastern regions, eg. Guangzhou. Also simplified characters are more universal; only Taiwan and Hong Kong use traditional characters, so depends on your preference (a lot of the characters are the same). 加油 (good luck)!
@iann24
@iann24 6 жыл бұрын
In my opinion it will be Mandarin, Cantonese , yes you can learn but mainly you only use it in Hong Kong , not a common languages among the Chinese except for Singapore , Malaysia and Hong Kong ( correct me if I'm wrong haha) Mandarin , well good luck , it's a beautiful language tbh , but it's quite a challenge , simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese it will be your choice haha , but simplified is slightly easier than traditional and more common , the way they pronounce the word and the meaning are the same , just different writings , may you succed in learning ! 祝你好运! I only have 1 metre of intestine left and so even if I eat a small amount I often doesn't digest the nutrients. My gastroenterologest told me to eat things high in calories just to keep my weight stable. I think that is the first and last time a doctor will ever prescribe sugary food. It sounds like it would be nice but you get sick of the sweet food because any food hurts my stomach to eat.

English only speaking people would be screwed trying to order food, just point to something and hope it's good?

... Or you could learn some of the language before you travel & know what you're getting into? Like Mike said, Tainan isn't the scene for fancy westernized restaurants. AKA, it's local AF.

Mikey......
