Traditional Tattoos & Good-Byes to the Crew | Episode 169

On this week’s episode we sail into the last Marquesas island before making our way to the Tuamotus. We arrive in Nuku Hiva and drop anchor around the most boats we have seen in months! We also say a sad goodbye to our crew who have lives to get back to outside of the sailing world! Afterwards we celebrate the Polynesian culture by getting tattoos from a local shop. Also Erica’s sister joins us for our next few sailing adventures.

..... amazing ink, love the story your hand ink tells Warren .... can sure understand why it is hard to break away and head to the next spot .... suction cup at the waterline with a bar between for your feet and you suspended in a bosuns chair like set-up may give you a steadier working platform .... would say there was less flex going on at the end points of the port-lights than the middle where it had separated .... good-byes are hard, you mentioned a French phrase, the German "auf wiedersehen" literal translation "on again seeing" .... thx for the share .. as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ....

It's always sad to watch people leave because you get attached to them. They were awesome people and crew from what I could see and hope we will see them again. It's so nice to see your sister aboard and I am looking forward to your further episodes. Take care and fair winds.

Ah...sorry to see your friends leave. As for tattoos, I have quite a few...they are called SCARS ! Each one a memory, good or bad. I expect a few more in the times to come. As always, thanks for the post.

Awesome video, thank you. Love your tattoos, they look great. Your enthusiasm is contagious. BTW Warren, they make a spray product called "Debond" which is extremely effective in breaking of the bond of most sealers/adhesives. I used it to break a 5200 bond which I was told, couldn't be done.

Next time you remove a window, try using a small diameter wire to cut the adhesive.

I'm new to your channel. I discovered it through another channel but I just binge watched your entire last part of sea of Cortez to episode 169. You two are an awesome couple and I hope my wife and I can join you on the water. It says a lot about a man if his woman is happy and you two appear to be very happy. I sensorially hope you remain friends with Tanner and Patty because you four definitely had chemistry. I only hope my wife and I can meet a couple like that so we too can cross the Pacific and have a fun, wild, crazy good time like y'all did. BTW how did you meet them? Is there a website for boat crew? When I get my boat I need to find a power couple with a wild an crazy wife that can pull mine out of her shell. LOL

Oh hey, the port lights - I love cats but that’s why they really aren’t blue water - it’s a production boat on blue water but they’re built for the bareboat coastal cruising market.

If your boat is a Fountain Pajot 2017 Sayona , it is balsa cored ! Any water ingress will rot the wood ! That's why Fountain Pajot switched to foam core construction ! Sell your boat before it rots !

Try a heat gun or heat to loosen the glue on the window if it happens again. Beautiful tats guy's!!

Is there not a solvent to help with that glue? And I would drill and screw those back on WITH the new glue. How about a swing stage that you can clip to the toe rail and suspend over the side? Just a couple of good brackets to hold a paddle or surfboard. Rocking with the boat would be so much easier. Never saw fueling like that before. Thanks for this episode. I need to go watch your Mexico ones.

Where did you find your crew? I just thought they were good friends and fellow sailors. They seemed such fun. BTW, Your underwater camera work is beautiful. Very professional looking. When you crossed the equator, first thing I thought of was the song "Southern Cross" by Crosby, Stills and Nash.

Great song! We okay that one often and now that we’re down here we have adjusted our stars;) The crew was great and we got lucky! Patty was a friend of ours already and we met Tanner when we sailed to Hawaii and mentioned we wanted to cross, so when the time came we reached out to him and he was like hellll yes!!!!!!

Please stop whining about your challenges. You chose the life you live. Deal with it and try to avoid being so negative. Boats have problems. It shouldn't be a surprise.
