Blessed Alan de La Roche was a Dominican friar and priest who lived during the 15th Century. He was an eminent theologian and was famous for his sermons. Blessed Alan was chosen by the our dearest Lord and the Blessed Mother to promote once again the prayerful recitation of the Most Holy Rosary after many if not most of the faithful had neglected to pray it for more than a century. It was most appropriate that a spiritual son of St. Dominic should be chosen for such a great work. Blessed Alan began his holy mission in 1460 after a special warning from Our Lord, Who wished to spur him on to preach the Holy Rosary. The Son of God and Son of Mary literally spoke to Blessed Alan from the Sacred Host during the Sacrifice of the Mass. Our Lord asked His chosen priest: How can you crucify Me again so soon? Blessed Alan responded: What did You say, Lord? Jesus answered: You crucified Me once before by your sins and I would willingly be crucified again rather than have My Father offended by the sins you used to commit. You are crucifying Me again now because you have all the learning and understanding that you need to preach My Mother's Rosary, and you are not doing so. This terrible reproach of our Lord aimed at Blessed Alan, caused the Dominican Friar to resolve solemnly to preach the Rosary unceasingly for the rest of his earthly life. Blessed Alan did not seek to change the Rosary. He did not add novelties to the prayer or increase the number of mysteries, nor did he seek to subtract prayers or shorten existing ones. He simply reintroduced the Holy Rosary to a people that had forgotten this very powerful prayer. But the liturgical revolution that radically changed the Holy Mass of the Latin Rite would become a revolution against simple piety that would eventually infect the Rosary. We were told by liturgical reformers that the Old Mass was lacking…that it needed to be updated and reformed…that it didn’t meet the needs of modern man. We are now told that the Traditional form of the Rosary was not as Christological…not as Christ-centered as it ought to be…that it required new mysteries that would enlighten and illuminate those stuck in the Middle Ages. And so, we are led to believe that the Holy Rosary, given by our Blessed Mother to St. Dominic was somehow defective and needed to be reformed and updated. What we need is not novelties but rather a man like Blessed Alan to preach the traditional form of the Rosary. During the religious persecution in Ireland ,when Priests were hunted down and killed ,and the people were deprived of Mass, the Rosary is what kept the Faith alive ,it was called The Dry Mass.

Im 62 I’m a Catholic convert from the Presbyterian and Episcopal churches. I converted in 2010. I was a college freshman when I went to see Pope John Paul ll speak during his visit to Philadelphia back in 1980. I still remember his sermon on morality. I will say this concerning the Rosary. Popes are elected according to the Holy Spirit and whatever they decree on matters of faith is divine guidance from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity and is God Himself also. Therefore, if a change was made to the Rosary by the Pope, it was made under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Such was the case if the addition of the Luminous Mysteries. I see nothing wrong with such a change. With all due respect to Blessed Mother Mary, God is still allowed to will as He pleases.

Yes, pray the Rosary exactly in the style that the Mother of God has instructed us to do so.

The Rosary has never been changed. The Luminous Mysteries have always been optional. It's the modenists who have distorted it.

I am very surprised at hearing this. I have prayed the rosary every day for a few years now and I’ve always found it weird how the order of the rosary goes Luminous Thursday, Sorrowful Friday, Joyful Saturday and glorious Sunday. I think I am going to pray the rosary the traditional way from now on, especially because the luminous mysteries are optional. I think the luminous mysteries are amazing but for the sake of simplicity in my spiritual life. I’ll pray the traditional version of the holy rosary.

Our Blessed Mother asked the children in Fatima to pray one third of the rosary every day. One third of 15 is 5, one third of 20 is 6.66….I am sticking to the original …who are we to question our Mother?

I used to pray the Luminous mysteries with un comfort but through meditating, I fell in love with them. It was very thoughtful of the church to add these mysteries, meditation on how Jesus begins the ministry and the climax which is the center of life, the Holy Eucharist. The Church nailed it. Please Pray , hope and don't worry.

I pray the 15 original mysteries. It's SO perfect as It is! The Luminous I treat as a separate "chaplet" that can be said as a devotion APART from the rosary, -- especially at Adoration because of the last " Eucharist " mystery.

Very interesting. I always thought it was awkward to skip around days like that, but that is the way I was taught. I'm learning so much from the sermons and talks on this channel. Thank you so much!

I find it hard to meditate throughout the whole rosary but for some reason I still get the blessings of it. I don’t know if it’s my Intellect or will but please pray for me I want to be a better son better follower of Christ.

Adding the luminous mysteries also makes it harder for people to pray ALL mysteries at once - it encourages the disjointed separated mysteries throughout the week which is a totally different experience. Once you pray all 3 mysteries in one day you’ll realize that this is how it was intended to be prayed. When they’re separated throughout the week, you don’t see how they all go together. Praying all 3 will deepen your appreciation of the Rosary and YES it’s about the rhythm of human life

I can't stand the "new" ways of the church. I can't stand receiving Communion by a common lay person, half the time some 19 year old girl. Please bring back the original Mass.

Thank you. I was just contemplating on this yesterday, struggling with the luminous, and asking what to do. An answer within a day. The Fatima prayer(O my Jesus forgive us our sins....) was an addition, but instructed by Our Blessed Mother to add.
