Welcome to Amity Tracks. This is a channel where we discuss a wide range of music related topics. The focus will be on music from the 1960’s through the 1990’s, but not exclusively. Classic rock, progressive rock, psychedelic rock, hard rock, jazz, blues, folk, country, soul…all genres are fair game. From time to time we may dabble in other popular culture, such as film, history or sports. But music is primarily what we do here. The focus is on the music and the artists. We hope to encourage an open and dynamic community with fun and informative discussions not only in the videos, but also in the comments section. Please note that, while disagreement and discussion is welcome, no personal attacks or out of bounds comments will be tolerated. We want to be a part of the positive larger vinyl community and other like-minded, music focused communities.

Glad to watch your discography ranking videos. Traffic has been in my collection for years, but I never really got into them. I bought their records because they seemed like a band I should have since I love Steve Winwood. I look forward to revisiting the albums thanks to you.

One of my favorite Traffic songs is “Rainmaker.” Such a haunting tune! Love Chris Wood’s flute!

Great overview. Traffic at their best--as I think you are saying--are among the best of late 60s, early 70s, and I probably put them on the turntable more frequently than others of that era. Not such a fan of Mason's early pop-psych ditties but he was far from alone, at least in the UK, in writing in the mode in the mid-sixties. I always wish Traffic had released more in the vein of Low Spark, so I thank you for mentioning On The Road. I'd forgotten about that album and will be on the lookout for it now. I pretty much agree with everything you said here. Really enjoyed your post!

Thanks. I do too. They could have made a few more albums in that sound.

Feelin’ Alright: The very best of Traffic, does a neat job squeezing studio picks onto a single disc. (For mix tape fans.)

Nice to hear Traffic's praises sung. I love the second album and 'John Barleycorn Must Die' equally. 'Low Spark' is very mellow late night listening but not as engaging as the other two. I also have the original UK mono press of their debut, which is my pride and joy. I can't comment on the reunion album (passed me by) but until then they never made a bad record.

Traffic is a great band! I generally agree with your rankings, especially with your number 1 picks for studio and live albums. Although I like their debut, I do wish the recording quality had been better.

The first Traffic album the I heard was the second LP. I really like the Dave Mason stuff. I prefer the Traffic version of “Feeling Alright” over the Joe Cocker rendition. It has a much more relaxed feel. Traffic must have brought out the best in Mason. Mason’s first album is really good but he started to sound more like a lounge act. More commercial.

Quick comment on shootout still watching. I thought totally different from low spark .evening blue roll right stones also good . Saw them on that tour . They lost jim Gordon and ric Gretch to muscle shoals studio musicians on that tour and Steve was Ill .

The Spencer Davis Group were some ugly mugs. I've never seen or heard that reunion album. I like the UK debut album cover but the US album is better because of the inclusion of the two singles. I also think the debut is better than the 2nd.

It's probably best that you've never heard that reunion album. Unless you're a fan of 90s Winwood.
