May 12, 1986. A group of two faculty members, a mountain guide, and ten students from Oregon Episcopal School visited Mt. Hood for their yearly educational climb. Nine of the climbers died after days of search and rescue efforts. This tragedy became one of the deadliest mountain climbing accidents in North American history.
