John Proctor was my 9th Great Grandfather. Just found out the other day so of course I'm looking up everything I can about him.

Fun fact: During Salem's witch trials, historical Abigail was 11 and Proctor was 60. Elizabeth, his 3rd wife, was 41. Miller changed those ages to create sexual tension and to spin out a "why" this all happened. In actuality, we don't know what feelings sparked the witch craze.

Miller's play (a great work) is BASED on the Salem Witch Trials of 1692. It's not intended as historical fact. The film is based on the play. Don't get what people are complaining about? Our teacher explained that to us.

Um, I'm not sure if you understand why he tore apart the confession. The judge was going to have his confession nailed on the church, which would destroy his and his family's reputation, and it was a false confession. Everything was taken from him except his name. He'd rather die an honest, humble man, than live surrounded by lies, with a false confession to his name. It wouldn't set a good example to his wife and children. Also, because Christianity was really important during that time, the thought of living while lying to God was worse than dying from the truth. He didn't change his mind because he thought the women were brave, he changed his mind when he realized that the church was going to use his false confession to sully his name, and destroy his family's life! So he was protecting his family and saving his soul when he ripped the confession.

After the death of Otto Frank the Anne Frank Foundation finally came out and admitted that the Diaries were largely a work of fiction that were co-authored by Otto Frank. She was a child and did not have the writing skills that the book was finished in. Originally they were Diaries but towards the end of her life she said to her father that she wanted to turn it into a love novel.

As a educator, you should know this is a fictional story based on real people. John didn't even know Abigail in real life. John was a well respected man who lost his first two wives during childbirth. His third wife Elizabeth was accused first, when John spoke up in her defense, he was accused. The sheriff stole all of his possessions as they sat in jail in deplorable conditions. John was hung and Elizabeth was spared but only because she was pregnant at the time of the trials. She gave birth after the trials and named her son John. 18 people lost their father the day John was murdered. He did NOTHING to deserve what happened to him.

I want you to know that I do have a disability and it is known as down syndrome and I was in the play called the crucible I am going to try to find that audible version of this book. I also have the movie on VHS though but you need to know that the real John proctor what does not have an affair was Abigail Williams not at all. The movie said that he dead but the book said that he did that part was wrong I should know I was in the play at one point of my life and you would know that for certain go back and watch the real story of the crucible and the Salem witch trials and you’ll find out that John proctor wanted to disprove. Wanted to put a stop to these trials and also never had a relationship with Abigail Williams the movie showed that You need to know and your class should know the truth the movie exaggerated a lot of these things but according to your class you made it look like that everything was either. A sad ending or a good ending no all on the books has that I should know I do have a lot of audible books but I do respect you for honesty. You would know that the crucible and the story behind it was the real John proctor and also the movie version of John proctor that you would know. That Giles Corey was not very much a cooperative person I was very much argumentative people and don’t say that he was cooperative and it is wrong thinking to say that I’m just getting some thing to teach them or you can teach them about something like this Parent education special needs and self advocacy which is what my ministry is about I know that you are a teacher and I do have a disability and it is true in the name of my ministry is everlasting life ministerial work What you should do is tell them the truth educate them about the real past and you made John proctor out as a hero when he is not a hero when someone has flaws like you said that makes them as guilty as sin to looking the other way from his wife and committing luxury with Abigail Williams according to the novel in the play in the film when real wife this never happened I was like 80 years old or something or maybe younger than that

Not sure in the time period and context, I could comfortably teach students that 17 year old Abigail was a mere child. Great analysis though. May use some of these strategies.
