"You're a microphone. What do you know? Shut up!" Gord Downey arguing with a mic stand. Brilliant!

How beautiful is this man, in his suit and glasses.. and so ROCKING.. there is NOTHING like The Tragically Hip anywhere else... classy / classic.. Eastern Canada LOVES YOU... (even though I now live on the west coast... this will always represent Ontario for me...)

The Hip put up rock and roll performances you could take your 100-year-old grandparent or 5-year-old kid to and (barring the noise and occasional intentional, well-placed, non-profane profanity) be certain they'd come out a better person on the other end and wouldn't hear anything they shouldn't or generally would object to. Here's a fan from Ohio. In love since the first introduction via an Ontarian friend 13 years ago...will be till I'm gone.

"Look out! Look out! Look out!! Oh, sorry, I thought it was the Corporate Power Structure..." I just keep watching Hip videos on KZfaq and kicking myself for not seeing them live more times than I did. Every Hip song keeps getting better the more times I hear them, but also getting harder to watch with the tears welling up, partly b/c still so gutted about Gord, and partly so moved and thankful for the legacy of mind-blowingly awesome music he made and left for us. Was never more true that stars that burn the brightest are gone the fastest. Godspeed, Gord.

j matt There will never be another band as great as The Hip or Rush. Feel the same way watching videos on here, missing Gord and hating the disease, but the comments always offer comfort.

Right on. You nailed it. I think their energy, especially Gord's, was just pure Love. He was in a hurry to spread it and when I watch them I can't help but be moved. It's overwhelmingly powerful and emotional. RIP Gord. We love you

How great to see the little guys up front. I saw them whenever they came south to the DC area. I felt so lucky to see them in the smaller venues down here.

If we had only known what was in his cards, the hand to be dealt to Gord and the band years later. Makes me, you, us realize time is precious, cherish every show....man I miss Gord, the small venue's, record store shows, the little things. I'm happy to know, if there is an afterlife, he knows we know he knows we miss him.
