Not necessarily a camera question but you touched on how the deer can be all over the property and therefore alot easier to spook and harder to hunt. Approx 75 acres including AG fields, streams, hard woods, conifers mostly flat land in very upstate NY. I'm not able to change the land in any way. The doe count seemed to have droped the last couple years and the bucks game always been scarce, at least to my eyes and camera s . Very little to no rubs or scrapes how can I help define there movement and such in this situation?

I wonder how much these seasonal shifts in range hold true for wooded hill country that contains interspersed fields but no agriculture of note. In a lot of the US, there isn't a bean farm down the road the deer go live on some of the year.
@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 5 жыл бұрын
I see a lot of deeper shift in those areas! For example more field cover and hardwoods for Summer...more remote inner benches, confirm edges (hemlock in the east), swamps, etc in the Fall. Big shifts. In those areas just 1 land owner with several acres of quality food plots can attract a huge deer herd with an even greater reach. In areas of public land j see a lot more Summer deer near roads and green roadside food sources, roadside apple orchards, summer cabin hotspots. Then those Summer deer shift deep into the forest for the Fall - in particular order bucks. In those areas of giant public lands it is crazy how distant private lands can attract mega herds, leaving inner, remote settings void of deer...although bucks will travel a lot further on a daily basis. All in areas where deer could readily be observed during the Summer near visable people areas. Referring to northern MI, WI, MN areas...big woods of PA and Southern OH/Northern KY. Hope that makes sense!

Great video, I was wondering when I should get mine out. The snow slows me down here in Maine. I am disabled and to get around in the snow is a challenge. Learning this weather hunting will help me a lot. Here in TN if you don’t like the weather wait 5 min it will change. I’d much rather set on a stand when the odds are greatly in my favor than set there burning up and seeing every other animal in the woods. I’ve been bad for doin that. I had one squirrel he got used to seeing me in one of my stands so much last year he’d climb the big white oak I had my ladder stand in and go past me. I’m serious. He had two spots on his back the hair was gone. I’d whisper to him he’d set and listen and go on. It’s true. I had pics of him but erased them.

Hi Jeff regarding antler grow Suzie & I where at the Harrisburg penn show where we met with Jeff beeler ceo of antler grow what I found to be interesting is you spray this product on green& growing brouse or food plots & it helps the plants get the nutrients that are lacking from the soil it supposedly sticks to the plants so rain can’t wash it off also doesn’t freeze also no shelf life so that being said we purchased 4 gallons of it to take care of 5 acres at this point willing to try just about anything you should check it out I think you would have use for it if you make the time

Jeff, it is my understanding that cow elk must have a certain body fat percentage in order to be able to get pregnant. Therefor, the rut can change dates if the cows have a low body fat going into the fall. I would assume that it's the same with deer. Keeping track of when they fawn will let someone know when they became pregnant.
@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 5 жыл бұрын
That does work 😉 The cool thing is with whitetails is that the rut is the exact time every single year within a given area...no differences at all 🙂 Not sure about elk... Check this video out: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jNmqoKuntZrIh3k.html
