Absolutely amazing to have 2 trains just sitting still in a Forrest like that.... What would be real nice would be a shed to protect them or better still imagine if they were restored ... Obviously never happen but it's stunning to see..... Thanks for sharing... They don't make stuff like they use to, this stuff was built to last

Really surprised that Maine doesn't put these trains in a museum. These historic relics deserve to be restored. I realize it would be difficult to move them as they're very heavy, but we have a science museum in my city where four heavy steam trains like these are on display and away from the elements.

Would love to see the benefit of those boardwalks in times like you mention - the spring or after a heavy rainstorm. It adds to the fun when you actually have to stay on them vs just walking on them over dry ground. Thanks for sharing Post!

The bunch of trees growing in line along the tramway and all about the same diameter I imagine are from the seeds dropped by the fallen logs while being transported 90 years ago. Their reclamation of that land makes me smile.

Hey man, Visited somewhere last month that I think you’d love to see in person. When you have the time consider checking out Dividend Pond Trails and Archaeological District in Rocky Hill, CT. There are a few 17th-19th century dams & industrial ruins that are really something to see in person. It’s a significant site, I was blown away. It’s about a 40 minute drive from Springfield.

Put in to this island location back in 1987, on a trip up the Allagash River. It was a short walk to the locomotives. On the right just inside the wood line was a huge propeller from one of the lumber carrying steamers, I guess. Someone probably snagged it, sad to say. Thanks for this visit.

It seems if they know people will be going down there to see the trains they would cut more trees down to make the trail safer! Some of the trees are close on the trail, but it also looks like you made it back there a lot faster than the last time you brought us back to see the trains and all the different things along the way back there! they should just put barb wire fence around the trains. At least to Protect the Site. then put up some hidden trail cams around the area. Also, I dont think $500 fines for that is enough. Think it should be $10,000 for Each one. Yes I dont like people doing that. Think everywhere if found who does stuff like that on any property but there own. Should be Fined $10,000 Or More.
