Nearly died laughing at 1080's reaction: "this is a terrible pick...I know nothing about this guy" Personally, I'm thrilled to see two frontcourt players added on draft day with both positional size and excellent passing. Both are good at what they do on the defensive side. If this is the FO's idea of building a good team, I'm ecstatic. UConn steamrolled in the tournament and Clingon had his hand on every play. A twenty year old with such size and skill is an amazing value at the 7th pick in any draft.

I thought Blazers were going to package Robert Williams with their second round picks for something, but I'm happy with how things shaked out regardless. Whatever happens moving forward, I have trust in the Crone Zone.

I have an issue with Blazer fans wanting Cronin to trade away our best player! The facts are, right now, Ant is the best player on the team! Who else could it be? Don't say Shaedone when healthy, because he's got a long way to go to be where Ant is right now. I don't think it's even close! Ant is the only one who scores consistently over 20 pts per game. Who else do you have extreme confidence in, beside Ant, to take that final shot with less than 10 seconds left in the game? Maybe Grant, but I don't have as much confidence in him as Ant. Ant can drive and reliably score. We don't have one other player who can do that reliably. Everyone seems to think Scoot and Shaedone have to start and play together. Wrong. It's all about matchups in this era of the NBA. Switching. Why do you think we went and got Avdija from Washington? Because he's 6'9" and is able to switch to guard most every player on the floor. Maybe not the fastest point guards, but his type of player can guard anyone. Since this NBA switches all the time to get the matchup they want on offense, we need players who are that player whose almost impossible to guard on offense...and FINISHES AT THE RIM OR HAS A 3 POINTER THAT DROPS OFTEN. Ant is the only finisher on the Blazers! Who else can drive to the rim and almost always gets the ball to drop even with their center trying his damnedest to block it? Ant. Off the board it goes and drops through the hoop. He's crazy in his ability to sink those weird angled backboard shots. No other player is even close to as good as getting those huge shots, in clutch time, to drop. And you want to get rid of him! Others, commenting on the draft, said it's all about finding "THE GUY". The guy is a superstar capable of being "THE CLOSER!" A reliable 20+ point a game player. Ant is the only player the Blazers have that's even close to a superstar! Who else has scored 40 points or hit crazy amounts of 3's...like 7 in a game? Ant. He's the closest the Blazers have to "THE GUY!" And you want to get rid of him... When he's so young still, and had so much up side?! 🙃🙄 Gonna let someone else have our go to guy? Add another closer to their team? Then who's our go to guy? Grant is the only experienced player that could be that "end of the game" guy. All the others are too inexperienced and don't have enough confidence! As Cronin said in his news conference... Probably the most important sentence out of his mouth! "The Blazers are in a rebuild so we're in player acquisition mode". They're not trying, nor should they be trying to get rid of anyone except deep bench guys. Not our best player and ONLY FINISHER! An NBA team needs more than 2 guards! So why get rid of our BEST ONE? OUR CLOSER? I've been watching the Blazers since the 70's and new fans always want to pair up a couple of our players so they're on the floor together. Get rid of one of our best players... This time, our very best player and only closer! Maybe the old NBA had a first string and a second string and they played the first string guys together then brought in the second string to let them rest...WELL, NOT ANYMORE! This NBA is all about matchups and switching. Once you learn how the new NBA works, you'll never wanted to get rid of our best player and closer again to let less confident and less experienced players take his place. There's plenty of room for a 3rd guard, especially our best player. It would be a HUGE step backwards!!! Lol at how many guards played for the Blazers last year! What was it 6? 8? 10? A LOT! If Shaedone doesn't like coming off the bench, he better get used to it, because he's not good enough, yet!...To be demanding he start and be on the court getting best player minutes. He's a good player that has a ton of growing to do. He simply needs a few more years of experience! Ant has that... And the confidence to go with it. Please learn how this NBA works... You'll love it even more! How and why Chauncey is substituting so & so in, and what the opposing coach does to counter that move. Learning the subtleties of the game... The inner workings, makes for a much more enjoyable viewing. More strategic. And more appreciation of the difficulty of coaching. Go Blazers! 😎🤘

Ant is a terrible defender. We just did a decade of terrible guard defense and saw the results. Next season is for tanking for one of the strongest draft classes in years. Perfect time for the new guys to learn, painful as it may be.

Sure, but most point guards are terrible on defense because they switch a big guy on to him and he gets schooled because he's smaller! Very few awesome defenders at the point. But, you missed my point, he's our closer! He's carried us so many times I can't count. Where he goes off and throws down 3 after 3 and keeps us in the game, then he hits the shot near a quarters end or at the games end. He's the only close to superstar we have! Do you really think it's a good idea to get rid of THE BEST player the Blazers have?

I hope he beats Ayton out mid season for starting job. He is willing to expand his game it looks and maybe shoot 3s unlike Ayton and is instantly a better rim defender. Ayton is soft and a headcase. He literally blamed his play last year on a mattress

You aren't wrong. They need to sadly let Ant go. There just isn't the room for all them to flourish. ANT imo won't accept and 6th man role and he is too good for it tbh. Hoping they can send him to the east like Orlando and he does well.
