Glad you finally tried it! Missy and I stumbled on it and I reluctantly pulled in. Great food. Great staff great experience. Spoke to the server and she told me during COVID the 30 year old owner kept his people on payroll (likely at his own expense!!). So we left a BIG tip. For both the server and owner. We will be back for sure. BTW...the owner was working the grill the day we stopped. He knows how to make food! Captain Jones n Missy.

My wife and I ate here 11/20. We both had the trout. We went back 3/21 with family and friends as we stayed in the trailhead getaway cabin next door. We made reservations and they offered to bring our food to the cabin but we chose to dine in. Steak was delicious. No complaints. we will be going back again.

We are locals and always refer guests to Trailhead. Stephen was one of my students and he is wonderful. Not surprised to hear that he kept his staff on and paid them during the worst of the virus. This is my husband’s favorite place to get steak.

Looks like a real nice HOMETOWN steakhouse. That's the atmosphere that makes you feel good. I'm not a steak person (my husband is), but I would like the pork chop and burgers. Thank you for showing us!!!

Love carvers. We eat there at least once when visiting the area. Food is always good. Nothing fancy but view out the window is outstanding. Rolling hills with apple trees and grazing horses is beautiful.

Carvers Apple Orchard is a great place to eat. I highly recommend it. Best fried Apple pies in Cocker County.

@@missmable6015 Yes and the apple fritters with apple butter they give you in a basket before your meal is the best thing ever! they really would like it plus just a 10 min drive outside of gatlinburg and then that hidden gem “ Docs 321 Cafe” is actually right there close to it! 💎

We tried Trailhead Steak and Trout House 2yrs ago while visiting, we had a really good steak dinner and then took a ride on the Foothills Parkway just down the road.

Townsend is such a calm, serene place to visit. Trailhead is my favorite restaurant in the Smokies so I'm glad you checked it out and enjoyed! The rainbow trout and fried green tomatoes are my favorites from there.

@@fran2177 thanks for the info Fran. Maybe we will have to think of another place in east Tennessee. Because retiring on a pastors salary limits us. We vacation there and we really live it. Maybe we might consider Maryville area or Morristown area. Is that more reasonably priced? We are looking . We have a out 8 years to retirement. We love the people culture and beauty of east Tennessee.

So glad you finally went to Trailhead for a review. Glad you liked the food. We loved the food when we visited in September 2020. You will have to tried their burgers next time you visit. My sister said it was the best burger she has ever had in her life. Also, someone mentioned ,in the comments,about checking out Carver's restaurant in Cosby. It is not a steak house but a "mom and pop" comfort food. Their Chicken and Dumplings are fabulous as well as their homemade dinner rolls are wonderful.

Great review guys and you are so right about getting a Pork Chop cooked right where it is so tender because most places cooked it to death and it is sooooo dry and chewy! It is a pleasure to see a Pork Chop cooked right for a change!!!

Hi Will and Dawn, Thank you for sharing. Spent the last couple of days in Branson. There was definitely some bad weather, a F1 tornado hit near Indian Point just down the road from Silver Dollar City. Matt’s cabin at Shepherd of the Hills sustained damage when a tree fell on it. Also had flooding near Hollister. Hope you and your friends make another trip back. New attractions are coming down the road. This video was great! 👍❤️

We ran across this little gem and wanted to share our experience. Not sure if y’all have tried El Soñador Mexican Restaurant, but if you haven’t you definitely should do a review. The salsa is Amazing.

My husband and I went last night. 45 minute wait, but worth every second. 3 servers did a fantastic job quickly serving the customers and every bite was superb! I had the filet with potato bites and asparagus and I can't wait to go back! Thanks for the recommendation!

So happy to hear that Will's pork chop was nice and tender plus had a lot of flavor. I am always hesitant in ordering pork chops since if they aren't cooked correctly they could be rather tough. Both the pork chop and steak looked really good! Glad it was a good experience for the 2 of you.

Try the Black Bear Cafe in Townsend, it’s pretty good too. I’m up north in IL but my parents live in Townsend. My dad was actually the Mayor of Townsend but he passed away this past September. Townsend is my second home. I enjoy all of your reviews.

The black raspberry brown sugar bacon burger may be the best hamburger I've ever had at a restaurant. I can't wait to get back to Townsend, Tennessee !!!

Shhh, about the other entrance to cades cove, that was our secret, we thought, lol, just kidding...that’s a pretty blouse you have on Dawn.Food looks really good, has a nice char to it. That looks like a very nice place. The food looked tasty, I like that they don’t give you overly large portions. Sometimes you get too much, not only does it sometimes go to waste but I think food quality sometimes suffers. I heard in the background someone telling (what I think was a server) about not having “all day”. Guess he had places to be and things to do 🙄. They posted on the entrance about the possibility of a wait.
