We've got some rules in place to make these expeditions more interesting, and we're calling it "Trailing Blind". Let's see how it goes!
If you're not familiar with the rules of "Trailing Blind", I recommend checking out this video first:
• Introducing Trailing B...
The Confederate Line Trail in Fort Oglethorpe, GA is on a historic battlefield from the U.S. Civil War. It is rated Easy on AllTrails, and it is 0.9 miles long. This is our first official Trailing Blind Expedition since establishing these rules. The goal of this expedition is to make it to the end of the trail. But without knowing what's ahead on the trail, that's never a certainty.

the only upgrade that Toyota needs is a winch. A good scale winch, like the licensed scale Warn 8274 from RC4WD (which would be period correct for this truck), with a matching bumper. Give it that, and it shouldn't really need anything else. You could put better tires on it (not bigger, just a softer compound and/or different foams), and that might be of benefit too, but the single most important thing you can do for any truck you're going to play with like this, is a winch. I'd put that RC4WD Warn 8274 on all of them if it was up to me.

AGREED! I feel like every truck should have a winch, really. In this case however, I really don't want this truck to start looking different from how it looks in the film, and that limits me a bit (which is a big part of the reason I have it as Level 1). During the cold spell, I have been working on this truck's upgrade. Hopefully I can get that video uploaded soon, and see what you think! :)

@@CyberOcelotRC fortunately, there are things like servo winches and internally mounted winches, that you can hide behind the grille or somewhere inside the chassis, and then you just need to place your fairlead. You could even have the winch mid or rear mounted with the fairlead coming out the back, as some crawlers already do. There are lots of options to hide the winch to not spoil the appearance of the truck. Something to think about, anyway. Even if you don't want to raise this one up to a higher level, it does provide some self recovery options for something like being high centred on a big log.

@@CyberOcelotRC The RGT Challenger RTR is worth looking at if you need some ideas. This thing comes with a servo winch, mounted in the back under the bed between the rear shock risers. I bet there's room under the bed between the frame rails in that Toyota for a similar setup.
RC4WD Trailfinder 3 - I'm not happy.
