Indian Railway: Howrah Yeshwantpur Superfast Express led by Lallaguda WAP4 #22642 crosses Godavari River through Rail-cum-Raod Bridge.
It is one of the most spectacular river bridges designed by the Indian Railways in the south of the town of Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh. The teeming Godavari river, 2.8 km wide at this point, is crossed via two independent bridges. There is a third bridge which was built in the late 19th century but is now decommissioned. The train curves beautifully into the bridge and also embark on a huge curve on its way out, giving a full view of the length of the train, and the lovely red Lallaguda WAP4 from which ALP comes to the gate for flag Exchanging with Gaurd. Courtesy being near the Godavari delta and on the last legs of 1400+ km journey from the western ghats in Maharashtra, the river itself is replete with water, a year round feature not restricted only to the months of monsoon, making it seem like a sea on occasions.
