Dovetail has been milking train sim for years now. They don't do anything, just rerelease overpriced dlcs every year and milk train fans dry. And put in the bare minimum effort into their games.

Honestly I think mitliplayer would really be cool, I mean dude run 8 literally has militiplayer, and yes I agree the thought of thinking a real life person is operating the train right next to you is a really cool touch, I also think if they added more odd jobs train would be nice, like for a freight route, add a track grinder train, or even a hi-rail for track inspection there is so much you can do

You are right. The potential in T.S.W. can be tremendous. Add realism controls and A.I. passengers, Upgrade scenery and extending NY’s MTA as well as Amtrak and other line routes. Include subway lines (NYC Transit, BART) and others. I’m not even a quarter way into T.S.W. 3 yet and will wait on purchasing the next series. With some of the graphics I’ve seen in other games, not spcific to trains only, this franchise I feel, can do much better.

Something else I would like is a 3D viewer of the trains and be able to change the liveries on them. So when you go to profile and click on the train, you can see a 3d model of it. Same with routes, click on the route and should be able to bring up the route map to view it.

I enjoyed your you tube discussion. I was a locomotive engineer for 42 years. I really appreciated the way the first Train Sim was constructed and I was very impressed by the physic's that went into the planning for realism. But you know, it seems like every time they improve on one thing, they give up another. I wish they would follow the Flit Sim lead and make an arrangement with google earth for realistic lines and not leave it to us to build the lines into it, if that's possible. I feel I have limited space for my comments so I would just like to add that I really got into building a route, but to build a wooded area one tree at a time or use the limited choices of buildings to put a town together, becomes way to tedious. I would also like to see train sim take information and suggestions from the people using the program. It would be good to know Train Sim is willing to hear ideas and really find out what we would like to see in a program. Incidentally, I would like to say I operated a locomotive and I ran trains in numerous states. (Example of railroad jargon) Keep up the good work. I look forward to more posts. One more thought. If flight Sim can set up multiplayer scenarios with air craft, they should be able to inject realistic train operation for multiplayers.

Really good suggestions and overview of the whole game! I enjoyed hearing your thoughts on it all, and they are perfectly reasonable! I personally don't see a reason for another game, when you could make just a few more DLCs for TSW3 as well, and VR would add a LOT of new potential, and route making especially, sharing and creating them on the game would be a game changer for sure, especially hopefully making new locomotives, I'd like to see that happen! But if they ever go through with TSW4, I personally think they should add a California Zephyr (And add Amtrak Genesis locomotives for the main consist) route that merges with cajon pass, and they should extend the Barstow sub, and add new locomotives, there is honestly SOO much more to those ideas we could go through, but just a thought I'd like to share with you all! very well thought out and reasonable video. definitely head scratchers, I would love to see most of your suggestions. I care more about the extension connects, and interacting for multiple points most. I would love to see a multiplayer portion where you and friends can be in contact with each other running a route. one as engineer, one as a guard type or even a signaler. A dispatcher would also work as an add on like they have in flight sim.

Love your channel BG! I'm a player for trains (TS3 mostly), FS2020, ETS2, and ATS. You have a lot of great opinions and ideas. I really like TS3 and own most of the DLC for it. I do wish instead of releasing a TS4 that DG instead just added the sandbox play and route editors to TS3 and worked more on core issues. Yup I know these kinda sims are a real niche community. The peripherals for some of these sims are hugely expensive. Player counts are low compared with some games for sure But damn man I love em.. and I really love that guys like you take the time to explain and describe the things going on.

I completely agree with everything you said. One thing I would like to see added is a basic DCC control option, similar to Trainz where you don't need to start the loco/train and you just and a forward and reverse type throttle. I like detail/realistic driving but I also like basic driving too. The ultimate train sim/game for me would be TSW and Trainz mixed into one package.

We need some NYC routes on this one. like the (A) train & (7) train & (L) train & all the shuttle trains, all the NYC SUBWAY LINES Including the SIR & AIR TRAIN TO JF.

TSW needs multiplayer live routes. Each server has different departure times that you can start at. Private servers to play with friends & communicate as you go. The game needs to go online. It would be cool knowing that trains passing are human players. I didn’t say STRICTLY online, but an online multiplayer OPTION.

These are all pretty good suggestions. Custom key-binds should be easy to implement, and instant SPAD failures should be a toggled option for services. They’re kind of needed for scenarios, but turning it off elsewhere (combined with a traffic density option) could make for fun line exploration sessions. I do like the concept of a progression system, but the biggest drawback I see is real-world DLC costs. If I’m paying $30-40 for a brand new route, I better have access to everything. But some sort of incentive to keep playing besides new scenery options from the Mastery system should be considered further.

More steam trains..like the big boy and such would be cool and the failures could be cool such as brake fade

Yeah it's too soon. I just picked up the Acela for 3 and the New York-Trenton route. Me and my little grandson are gonna dig into it today. We love 3. No problems at all with it but a few sound issues when looking forward sometimes. The graphics look great. I would like to some day see the entire USA in one map, like American Truck Sim or MSFS2020-type thing. All of America for a sandbox in real scale would be awesome. I'm sure that's a long way out. EDIT - Yeah you said it, the sound needs fixed. And I get the same stutters in MSFS2020, XP12, ATS and ETS2. RTX2080 Super. And yeah VR!!!

I want to see more multiplayer dynamic of co op with other players and also being affected by their play style if they are a bit late or too early etc. Plus why not add a bit of communication like in flight sim where you get to be the signaller role and communicate both in real time voice or by some set phrases and actions. Think there quite a lot that flight sim does that I think could be translated onto tsw to make it more dynamic. Maybe the operation of your own train brand and a bit more managerial function like dealing with loss and profit. Hiring staff or have other players help your brand etc. Some more consequence and benefits for being on time or late or dealing with hazards like derailed train and bring diverted etc.

Run8 has multiplayer, I run trains as a Yard Master for UP's West Colton Yard on a community server, we create road trains and local trains and post jobs on the discord for crews to take. Some people run trains together or by themselves. Locals actually mean something and the industries need to be serviced when pickups are ready etc. It's such a shame that people don't check it out because of the graphics. The gameplay does trump the graphics, It actually matters to move freight around a 24/7 live map. It covers Southern California, North California and the east coast too. Faults are a thing and you can have an alternator fail and then it won't provide power to a train. Also the physics are awesome, you've gotta be gentle with the train handling.

And give more Trains to drive in the Base game not just 3 and spend A LOT MONEY in ALL Train Sim Worlds,and more cargo to push

i think it would be cool if all American locomotives could be available to use on any American route, or have the same thing that train sim classic does where you can build your own train with the consist builder and just spawn that in on a route, generally just take a lot of features from train sim classic and put it in TSW4

Good video with ideas well thought-out, espcially extensions and merges, and overall improving the quality of the experience of driving the locos. For me, I'm not fussed by multiplayer or VR - what frustrates me are the immersion-breakers that are rife in TSW.: the red light ending your game; the passenger system STILL not working as it should, especially when the Pres Crew updates broke it e.g. HHR passengers stuck underground (go take a look, they're like zombies!) at Mulheim Styrum so you have empty platforms, or everyone getting off your train at the beginning of a service; the flatness/stillness of the world - what about birds flying over, planes like at Gatwick, more people along the route? It's all too 'clean and shiny'. TSC has moving bulldozers and forklifts, rail engineers at various points on various lines, railfans taking pictures on the Swiss routes at stations and crossings - it's mostly absent in TSW, so it feels sterile. Also, TSW desperately needs to go elsewhere beyond the UK, US and Germany (and I say this as a player whose favourite routes are by far-and-away the German ones). The smattering of other routes elsewhere aren't enough. There are plenty of interesting places we could have routes. Some more route extensions would also be nice - LGV Marseilles-Avignon and Luzern-Sursee being two examples I can think of in particular.

Another Train Sim World?! I got the first one as I played on the classic for years. Pretty much most of what you want is either already available on Classic or was promised from the get go. Everything you spoke about is VERY valid and I 100% agree. I didnt bother getting 2 or 3 as I felt it wasnt worth the money. If they include 3rd party I may think about it. If they have worked out what you said in the end about being able to drive anywhere if you have the maps inbetween, 100% I would buy. Great content as always bud

I have TSW 2 and 3! After I bought TSW 3 I found out I cannot play the routes anymore from my TSW 2 Collector's Edition that were already included in the game. I have to repay those routes to play them again while I already have them in TSW 2. How dare they to let us pay for routes we already own from TSW 2!

I like the multiplayer idea. Even if just for that brief moment it would make it something different and more memorable even if just a little. I'm not sure I agree with you on the freight physics, could be because I play on the xbox and not computer (please don't resent me for that lol) but I do see consequences if I just try throwing it into eight. I get wheelslip and as you can imagine I won't be getting very far that way (let alone moving (especially in wet conditions)). Other than that I do like your insight, I would personally like to say maybe even longer routes being a possibility, whether they be high speed or even freight. Just to be out on the rails a little bit longer, seeing a bigger world and getting to fly at 150 or even round 200 miles per hour depending on your train and route, or maybe even feeling that bigger satisfaction of having completed a nice long freight route that expands maybe a hundred plus miles. Which I understand like you had mentioned in other aspects could be a challenge and or work in progress for the developers, but that's just my opinion.

I have completely lost faith in dovetail. This is just the same game being re-released over and over again with a few new routes and trains but they're charging $60 for it. The stutters and performance issues have been there since the first game and will never be fixed. Nothing that they've shown moves the needle for me.

I agree with almost everything you say here. VR support is a huge need, and would be a big enough deal to justify renaming it TSW4 for sure. The one thing I do disagree on is the red light failure, that's become kind of central to playing the game for me and I would feel like it was less engaging if there wasn't a building tension that I might lose an hour's worth of xp and a medal on a scenario if I become inattentive at the end of a long run.

I’d love to see the east coast main line or the run from Edinburgh Waverley to Aberdeen. I’d also love seeing the runs from St Pancras to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam as well as Le Tunnel routes from Folkestone to Coquelles

Too soon in My opinion , there’s still things they can release Train Sim World 3 , we’re still waiting on the First U.S steam locomotive for example

Good thoughts. I put down TSW a while back and swapped to ETS2 again to drive b/c there are so many mods, and access to all the tools that let the community make whatever they want to make. It's why the game is rich and is continuing to expand -- and basically why people are still buying ETS2 to this day even though it came out 10 years ago. Granted there is far less rail to utilize than roads, but what's to say someone couldn't build their dream railroad using dev tools and post it for everyone to enjoy. I think DTG fears that if they give away their tools, their sales will basically plummet b/c the community will make so many maps in shorter time spans that their work will become obsolete. On the other hand, DTG is not on the financial level as a game like MSFS which has more money than they know what to do with -- there is something to be said about financial freedom and it's my guess at why DTG does not give away their tools b/c they will go broke without selling new routes and core game versions. You mentioned in the video that flexibility of building your own consist -- Derail Valley knocked that one out of the park. Its a core feature that you can do whatever you want with any loco, car, etc in the game. Totally different game experience, but an even smaller firm that has put VR into their game straight out of the gate (even though most of the population doesn't use it, it's prime choice for those that have VR equipment to use). I think what shocks me the most about TSW3 is that it's built on the Unreal Engine which is so powerful and can handle anything DTG could want in their game, but I firmly believe that catering to console is holding back all of the cutting edge code and game engine power to really set TSW to the next level. For what it's worth -- it's not that hard to push code to different platforms - its just a matter of getting it structured right so each platform gets the right set of information. DTG is not the only company that struggles with it, but they have to sell and selling to console will keep PC slowed down until it gets it's own PC-pushed version with what you were saying 'let us find out how far we can push our systems'. Good work again on the vid.

Totally agree with VR - I use it in MSFS 2020 and it is a total game changer / full immersion and, as you rightly say, until you have tried VR you don't know what you are missing - sitting in a cab on a flat screen just doesn't done it - I have pretty much stopped using TSW now for that reason. I know Dovetail did a survey and VR was low on the list, but more and more people are buying headsets now plus Unreal Engine supports VR. Oh and I di wish they would sort out the stutters - I get a really smooth experience in MSFS which is a much more complex world that TSW so they need to get this sorted as it also breaks the immersion. Unless DG get this sorted I won't be investing in any more versions.....

Honestly I wish they would bring back the whole northeast corridor route with Amtrak from Boston to DC. I would also add a Septa line as well.

Hope for a new version of livery editor which there is a png decal uploader similar to Gran Turismo. That way players won’t be replicate detailed such as railroad companies logos. The 300 layers isn’t enough for good liveries. Also, there should be CB radio interaction lessons for people who curious about train communications with dispatchers. Another idea is the US locomotives and rolling stocks should be intertwined with similar routes. For example, Sand Patch Grade with the Canadian route tho more trains are exclusively on their route unless it’s a custom scenario.

The Multiplayer in SimRail is enormous right now. The minute the developer gets 3rd party developers to make content for their sim will be a game changer. That will make DTG step their game up when it comes to TSW. Great video, bruh. Keep up the excellent work!!!

Id love them to put Tehacaphi Pass into tsw (it's in classic) and link it to Cajon Pass somehow. Love to be able to go from Barstow to Bakersfield. Be a long trip but dang it, it would be cool. =}

Trainsim needs to focus on Africa, like Morocco. They have enough European and East coast U.S Love. There Is amazing scenery In Northern Africa and amazing routes that they can make for the DLC'S

I would agree with you. Just make it train sim world, release updates and dlc. The sound does need to be worked on. I would say train sim classic is closer to simulator than train sim world. More needs to be done to make train sim world a simulator. A scenario editor should be included. Multiplayer would be great with people handling the signalling. I disagree with you regarding a scenario ending if you pass signal at danger. It should do that.

To be 100% honest, I think that TSW3/TSW4 needs more MBTA routes. Because if you live in the North side of Boston MA and you like trains AND you want to work for the MBTA (like me) then you would want to have more routes then just the NEC. Because for me I want them to make the Lowell line. because heck if somebody can make the MBTA lowell line in trainz a new era then I am 100% sure that they could make a lowell line route in TSW3/TSW 4. as far as engines they could keep the same engines as the ones in the NEC route, but they could add other engines that the MBTA has. For example: the HSP46 or the GP40mc etc. and as for passenger/cab cars they can keep what they already have. but they could have double decker passenger cars (i forgot what the auctal name is for them so i just call them double decker). But other then that I am exectied for TSW 4 to release.

Me personally they need to stop releasing sequels every year and focus on updates and making the game better! From TSW2 to TSW3 that should have been an updated not another $60 dollar game! Also I am a US guy who enjoys freight trains and they seriously need help with their US content because I do t think they know what they are modeling! I feel like every year they release this stuff and it’s not a finished product! Look at Microsoft Train Simulator it took them almost 8 years to release a sequel but sadly it got shut down! American Truck Simulator is a good example of continuing to make the game better instead of constantly releasing the same content over and over! They also need to seriously work on there sounds especially when it comes to big diesel locomotives! It’s sad a single person can make awesome sounds for Run 8 that sound 10 times better than what they produce! Which brings me to the conclusion of why I am sticking with Run 8 for the realism and physics and the great content that these guys produce combine that with multiplayer like the depot plus server it’s like working on the railroad all over again! Seriously though why don’t we have multiplayer in TSW or TSC for that matter

Totally agree its way to soon for TSW4 get this one right first. Personally i don't want a new game . Just keep polishing and developing this one. Its worked for classic , (even ets2 and ats2) just add the features people want. Id like to see a consist editor like what classic has got.. , something to make it interesting. I buy the new routes do a few runs on them and thats it . I go back to playing classic. .

It's pretty funny hearing you say lets just add a Train Sim World and be done with it. Well how did that work out for MSFS? I believe MSFS was supposed to be the only title but factors came in and caused that not to be the case, the most prominant one being the longevity of the platform particularly on consoles, it's days were numbered, it needed some of those architectural changes and you know what, it's just easier to package that as a new product. I believe this has also caused much pain for CIG, the quality bar keeps getting raised but then so do all the systems and processes need to keep up. It will be interesting to see how good Star Citizen actually looks compared to the competition in 5 or so years time, it's already looking dated compared to Starfield although sure one is a single player game and the other is multiplayer, the network play really shouldn't limit the way it looks though.

We don't need another TSW EVER, we need a new Train Sim from a different company, it's about time Dovetail was eased out. I think the Train Sim community deserves an up to date solid Train Sim especially with the technology out these days. I mean look at the bombshell Microsoft dropped with MSFS unexpectedly. Microsoft or somebody else will do the same soon, but with a Train Sim and hopefully care about their player base and actually listen to the players. SCS is a perfect example of a company who cares about the players more than themselves. I know the day will come, it's just a case of waiting it out. I mean imagine SCS and Armstrong Powerhouse joining to make a Train Sim, I know that won't happen but just an example compared to Dovetail.

I personally think it’s too soon if they make it it’s own game. Train Sim Classic releasing a new version every year is fine because for those who have the game already, it’s a free upgrade to the core code. Sure if you want the new routes, you can buy it, but otherwise if you own Train Sim Classic it’s a free upgrade.

I used to play a simulator back in the day where you could create routes and trains on a small square map not sure which one but it was close to how cities skyline’s operates!

I'll never go back to TSW, having played their simulators since the original RailWorks came out. Derail Valley has made me a believer, that sim is absolutely top notch. I'll sacrifice different routes, tons of locomotives and Unreal Engine graphics for a much more realistic simulator with an actual industry system. Both games do have their uses and reasons to play them, but DTG as a company is the absolute worst IMO, always squeezing every last cent out of customers while offering next to nothing in terms of real updates or advancements over time.

I really do wish that they had just done what they did with TSC and just gone with one game the whole time. TSW2 was understandable, it brang a good amount of features, 3 though? 3 was just visual, nothing that couldn't be done in an update. Like seriously, American Truck Simulator had an update where they changed the entire lighting engine. There's no reason for this to be another game.

Personally think it's BS that a new TSW is incoming this year. And would be shocked if Dovetail has made a new sim. Like I've already written on Dovetail's post end of last month about some breaking news in August - I'd rather stick with TSW3 with massive new DLC routes and locos from around the world like South Africa, India, Japan, US Rocky Mountains etc. P.s what's also always bugged me is the open world environment with regards to the trees and grass - they don't bloody move to simulate the WEATHER. That's the lamest thing for me more than the sounds of the locos that as a non-train driver couldn't care less about.

Train Sim World 2020 24 July 2018, Train Sim World 2 20 August 2020, Train Sim World 3 2 September 2022. as you can see every two years they bring out a new train sim world i'd be surprised if they brough 4 out this year more likely next year. they did this with there fishing games as well till they stopped making them. i do feel this will happen in the end with train sim world it will come to a end in the end.

I would like to see them just improve the game. I've been playing Derail valley, just because of the way the trains feel.

The whole scenario failure if you pass a red light is there for two reasons. 1: They want to prevent collisions which could make companies look bad. 2: In real life, passing a signal at danger gets you immediately relived of your duties, you get disciplined, time off work, and can be fired for repeat offenses. It really is a pretty serious thing, and because of that I can't see them changing things here, although I will admit, it can be frustrating to miss the stop by just a few feet.

A couple of things from me: How much RAM are you using? Instead of VR Headset use why not use Tobii Eye Tracker 5 (which should be made an option by the developers)?

While I love the Warbonnets. They never pulled freight. There are so many thing DTG could and should have done with TSW. I originally got it because of the promise of multiplayer. we are now at TSW4?! Still no multiplayer!

The main problem with TSW is the older games DLC suppor they add, mosty because modifying the core of the game while maintaining the compatibility with older routes is what it looks what's holding the game's progress back. Up to this point there's not even a proper conductor option for this game.

I dont have a pc and i have a old ass one S and all i want is American passenger routes. Really anything. Boston to Providence is good, NYP-TTC is good, I love the peninsula corridor route, i really want something in the Chicago area, WAS-BAL would be amazing, and nyp-philly would be amazing and they already have a map for that+AEM-7!

It definitely is not tsw4 it has to be a new train pack with like Flying Scotsman or A new route like Lner East coast I would rather that as a route than a whole new game but the future will tell the truth

Yeah, same here... i started hating devs that are milking their community, but not really bringing something groundbreaking to the "new" game.. i had just started with Trainsimworld, when 3 months later version 2 came out... Bought it, saw not many changes, even the outside world didn't look any better... i stopped buying until i hear something really awsome happening to the sim(and i have quite a load of dlc/routes already)... but, i feel like the minimum effort/full price versions is a direct copy from Farmsim, a title i once loved and played many hours in, but having 2 years time as a dev, and then take community mods and integrate them and sell them as your idea with the new version? Stopped buying it. Until they stop being lazy and actually bring something more amazing to call it a new version.

The moment train sim world 2 came out, I stopped caring. "World" means all railways on Earth should eventually be in the one game.

I have been putting bug reports in to DTG for nearly a year now on two game stopping bugs that are in their "Rail Journeys" in TSW3. And I'm not the only one reporting these bugs as i've found out on forums. I've gotten the usual responses off them but nothing is ever fixed. All they seem interested in is pumping out more DLC's. For this reason I will not be buying anymore DLC off them as it might be broken and they won't fix it. As far asTSW4 is concerned well I thought TSW3 was just a cash grab. I am now getting my train fix by playing a game called Derail Valley, It has the career mode you were talking about where you need to buy licenses to drive certain trains and you get jobs to do.

Stupid question but I own train Sim Classic and you all know there's like hundreds of add ons for that particular sim. Not saying I own them all or not even 1% of them but....What is the reason so many have switched to TSW3 and not use TSC where there's apparently so much to buy and do. I do repeat and apologize beforehand for the question but with it I might be raising a thought that otherwise might not have been considered. Thanks in advance for all those willing to enlighten.

I only have train classic train sim world train sim world 2020 and that's it thinking of getting train sim world 3 and that's it I only got train sim world cause i did not have a pc back then only a console but its just so restricted
