Thanks for the review. I saw this on the Gamestop site and was curious. It's hard to fathom a train simulator game being fun but I may give it a try.

this was funny! i bought the game a while ago and completed everything.

Well, I've the game for a while now on XBox, and as a train nut I'm torn between being gobsmacked and a bit disappointed by this game. The game looks gorgeous, particularly the weather effects, and the 24 hour schedule with trains running up and down all over the place on each route makes it feel like a living world in a way. I've also had several people who aren't that into trains have a go playing my copy, only to turn around and go get one for themselves saying how much fun it was for them. My main gripes with the game are that your choice of rolling stock/locomotives is limited on each route and all of that is modern diesel and electric. When they put a few steam locos in the game, hopefully with an appropriate route to run them on and plenty of freight, passenger, and shunting work to do, I'll be a very happy camper. Still, I do enjoy playing it when all is said and done, and I do agree it can be a very peaceful experience.

Is there a “crash and kill as many of your passengers you can” mode ?

I wish we could get some combat simulators on PS4. Something like DCS, where you're sitting in a F-15 or Mi-24 Hind and you can push every button and they fly and fight just like the real thing. Hell, even an Infantry simulator would be good.

My biggest issue with the original train simulator games like you said the environmental feel 3:45. The environment just does not feel as lively as it could be. Driving a train through the American desserts or a passenger train in the Swiss Alpes its mostly free of people so that is fine, but I hate when you drive a train through cities and stations and there is no one walking or no cars driving on the roads nearby. It does not feel realistic in environment and that's what puts me off mostly.

Playing it on gamepass it's a relaxing game.

Wish they had longer journeys

Just got this on Xbox, so far pretty good but can’t seem to sit down during the class 43 tutorial. I walk up the ladder, follow the markers into the cab and it asks me to sit after looking around but the marker on the seat doesn’t disappear and there is no ‘sit down’ option. Only during this tutorial, works fine in any other scenario. Any ideas people?

This needs to be open world. We still have yet to have a nice high quality open world train sim. Something not stuck to a there and back route. There's one on Android but it's a few years old now. But it honestly puts these games to shame.
