Turns out the BR Flying Scotsman was limited by that silly BR speed restriction of 75mph under programming, while the LNER version appears to not have speed restrictions when programmed.

This is certainly an interesting race, but one thing I did notice, is wile you were programming it, Cheltenham's funnel disappeared

reason the schools pulls away quicker is because its shorter so steam can travel through to the cylinders easier and quicker, and the fact she's slightly smaller, just cos scostman hit 100 doesnt make it special, 10s of other locos hit 100 too

lazer jet the real reason why cheltenham is faster is because the driving wheels are smaller which makes a smaller rotation

Chelenham is faster than flying scotsman because chelenham is lighter than flying scotsman . Here are he weights of both Flying scotsman and cheltenham Flying Scotsman: 4472 96.25 long tons (97.79 t; 107.80 short tons) 60103 96.25 long tons (97.79 t; 107.80 short tons) Chelenham : IDK [ But mostly is lighter than flying scotsman ]
