And this is why there was interest in 6000 horsepower locomotives. Not for Saluda specifically, but to get rid of a few of those extra locomotives on big darn trains like this.

Yea, I wonder why GE and EMD have not tried to do it again. If I had some 6,000 hp units it would be about 13 of them. 74,800 hp with 17 ES44AC.

There is no advantage to 6000 hp units on steep grades - which is one of the reasons they never took off. On slow uphill climbs, tractive effort is limited by adhesion, not horsepower.

How you make - DPU locomotives in power on tail and middle of train, but SearchlightSimulation wrote in his manual that impossible... Nice video as well.

The only ones that have DPU abilities is the ES44AC and SD70ACe packs.

It's the GEVO-12 pack from Searchlight Simulations. It overhauls the entire locomotive, including sounds, physics, and headlights.

Probably about 19-20 SD70ACe. The reason being is that the ace falls a bit behind on tractive effort.
