I love how you did Lady! I thought about doing a layout, but I don't really have the room yet.

The close-shot of the "night time" sorta lighting at 3:20 caught me off-guard. The other clips in the video look a little brighter, so you can still see everything else. In that one clip, it's perfect. It looks straight out of "Fish" (That one Season 3 episode about Duck and Henry) or something. EDIT: Actually, it's Season 4. Looking good. One idea I would suggest, don't know how practical it would be to get such a thing in the USA, but look out for a Dapol City of Truro kit. They were also made by Airfix at one point. This is a cheap plastic kit, and if you painted it in a rusty, weathered finish, you could replicate the way the TV series reused their City of Truro prop as a scrapped engine.

You could add a small Army base to store your Sherman tanks and war materials. That is a delightful looking layout!

The narrow gauge track should be functional between the scrapyard and the sheds, kind of a like an industrial railway! Can't wait to see how it will further evolve.

You should have the narrow gauge line cross over the standard gauge line using a HO and HOn30 crossing track. If KATO makes a track section like that

Honestly like the isolated greenery from when he was experimenting. Might do something like that if I ever get to build one of these.

If you mix black paint with white spirits then brush it over the track, it will dirty the ballast to make it look worn, you need to get the correct paint though to make sure it mixes.

Put some variation in the landscape, a few hills (not tunnels) can go a long way to adding intrest, also may I suggest putting the Narrow gauge on an elevated platform 4-5" above the main line that way you can have a tall mountain and a reson for the narowgauge railway to exist. That brings me onto my next point, give your railway a purpose even if its taking trucks from one side of the layout to the other, with this mindset it well make the railway feel a lot more realistic. In fact just adding a reson for the railway to exist can make even a bit of track laid on the carpet feel like a proper railway.

Tar paper makes for a nice gravel appearance in yards or any area other industrial areas, i also have an idea that might not work, but if you had an orange led diode in the scrap yard where a figure is cutting up an engine with a blowtorch, probably not possible with this gauge though tbh

Just a thought but if you attack some plywood say 2 1/2 to 3 ft long and 16 inches wide turning the layout into an “L” shape you could make a pretty good Brendam docks scene

put a tunnel under the narrow gauge and make the narrow gauge elevated so the yard can fit near it

I personally really enjoy ballasting. Propably my favorite part, besides grasslaying (I use grassmaster)

Trainboy, just a thought, would you ever consider making something like Brendan docks on your layout, maybe like a single track line to a harbour set or something, you could probably come up with it better than I can. Currently I'm thinking of making a layout, but making a harbour area similar to Brendan in series 3. I dont have space at the moment but you can bet I will in the next few years.
