You could go for simply giving him extreme stats: either ridiculous defence stats (Absolutely Safe Capsule, preferably trained in Brick-Wall style) or outrageous attack stats (Akuma, preferably trained in Demon style). Or you could reinforce his super armor by giving him more super armor (either Black Knight+Dracula or Beast Ganon+Gold Mario). Or improve on his weaknesses, increasing speed and reducing ending lag (Super Sonic (trained in Runner Style) +Tennis Player, etc). Or, lastly, enhance your preferred playstyle by strengthening spikes and throws (Toss & Meteor: Hoopa Unbound, Projectiles/Specials: Wind Fish, etc.).

@@Pathfinding-earth Yeah, that's basically it. Technically there are some cheaper options like Amiibo Powersaves or some handmade amiibo cards, but they all function as amiibo.

There's no wrong way of training an amiibo really. However there are methods to training amiibo in a more competitive way. I trained my amiibo using Amiibo Dan's method back in the days of Smash 4. And while I didn't find any guides for Ultimate back when it first came out, I applied the stuff I learned from using their respective characters in both games and from training methods used in the past. So yeah, I winged it when it came to retraining them. But at least I had a good handle at using their respective characters.
