Slightly misleading title, but great to see the talks about the mindset. Especially in climbs it seems to be the biggest challenge to overcome to actually concentrate on the effort itself. thumbs up! Love the energy and synergy of your team. I learn a lot and it is enjoyable, informative and funny. Thanks!

Climbing or in particular threshold or above is mostly mental

Falls Creek is the climb in the state of Victoria, Australia. Its the back of falls (coming up the back way) is the tough ride as the total climb is say 32km but 20km of that is an actual climb with the final 12km is in fact relatively flat. The 3 peaks Falls Creek Gran Fondo consists of 3 climbs with a long total ride of say 4500m metres of elevation with 240km. Cheers

A more important information required from him is how’s his posture and FTP/Weight ratio compared to his rivals? As we now that even at the same power/weight ratio, the steeper the gradient, the more body weight has a role is climbing speed.. And I would say, gearing would play a big role in your pacing especially if you’re a heavy climber (compare to your FTP)..in my case as a 3 w/kg at 70 kg, whenever the climb get steep, i will always reach my VO2 Max zone even at cadence 50-60 rpm…I couldn’t keep the power low enough at my sweet-spot..of course the best way to tackle this challenge is to increase your FTP, but we all know how that usually goes 😌

What is a good way to ride up long climbs with gradient steep enough which requires VO2Max or above power to climb so pacing at threshold is out. Please assume that threshold power is at it’s peak and rider weight at it’s lowest when answering. Thank you!

How is this "training" for long climbs?
@TrainerRoad

Training your climbing mentality and dialing pacing strategy. Effective climbing is much more than the 'pedaling' part of training. ;)
