Hermès trains new generations of artisans from all backgrounds for its leather métiers, strengthening the multiplicity and diversity of its leather workshops.
Florists, jewellers, butchers, young graduates, job seekers, etc.: the identity and experience of those who join the Hermès leatherworking schools is not important. First and foremost, training coordinators like Gabrielle and Christophe build on the dexterity and capacity for learning of these students with unusual career paths, who are recruited through the Pôle Emploi agencies in the regions in which the French manufacturing facilities are established.
Acquiring the know-how and qualities of a Hermès artisan - meticulousness, precision, attention to quality, perseverance, etc. - goes far beyond a simple exercise. Behind the gesture, a posture and an attitude give the work meaning and constitute a promise of pride for the future artisans.

Welcome to the world of Hermès:
In 1837 Thierry Hermes opened his workshop making the finest quality harnesses and saddles in the heart of Paris.
Today Hermes is still a family company whose craftspeople make, often by hand and always with love , bags and belts, diaries and dishes, scarves and shoes, perfumes and purses, ties and travelling furniture, as well as gloves, hats, watches, jewellery and clothes.

You can, there are literally hundreds of videos showing you how to hand stitch, edge finish, prick, crease, cut, pattern make. They're all for free. If you really want to do it, start now.

Teach me, Teacher. This is remarkable, thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills with the next generation of artisans. Well done. It sounds, if I'm reading the details right, that this is at least a one month learning program. Is it open to anyone internationally, or is this a job-training program for people on disability, welfare &/or unemployment in France? - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
