As mentioned in the video, my trip to Carnforth was because of the film Brief Encounter.
I was surprised that much of the station is still the way it was back in 1945. The refreshment room has been restored to its original condition and there is a lovely heritage area about Brief Encounter, as well as a charming gift shop. I was certainly not disappointed with my trip to this station and I definitely recommend a visit. Today the station is managed and served by Northern who provide trains to Carlisle and Barrow-in-Furness from platform 2. Trains from platform 1 run to Lancaster (just 10 minutes away) and Manchester Airport.

This video is also a tribute to a wonderful pair of actors; Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard, as well as Noel Coward who directed the film.
