A selection of trains at, Didcot Parkway home of the Didcot Railway Centre and former location of Didcot Coal Power Station! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
A mid-morning of Great Western services at Didcot Parkway, heading around the West of the United Kingdom. Trains include:
- Great Western Railway IETs Class 800s and 802s, Class 387s
- CrossCountry Voyagers Class 220s and 221s
- Freightliner Class 66s
- ROG Class 47.

Train Numbers - e.g. 43032 or 800110 - These are train numbers which are specific to that train. No trains can be numbered the same. Locos are 5 digit numbers where the first two numbers are the class of train e.g. 67010 would be a class 67. Headcodes - e.g. 1F32 or 5M00 - These are used by the railway signallers to determine where trains are on the network. Every train within a region has a specific four code ID. Click Here to learn more

Set Number - e.g. WB64 or NL04 - These are semi-permanent loco hauled coach formations which are kept together for formalities. The first two letters usually indicate the maintenance depot responsible e.g. OC is Old Oak Common, LA is Laira. The number indicates the rake number.

Here we see: Class 221 Voyager working the rightfully intercity Southampton - Newcastle service starting at Reading AT SPEED! Class 66 Loco pulling freight at SPEED! Class 800 Hitachi accelerating the London - Bristol service impressively Class 802 and Class 800 Hitachi working the London - Oxford service AT SPEED! Class 800 Hitachi working the London - Cheltenham service with 5 carriages, which is fine. NOT AS BAD AS THE TFW CLASS 175s WHICH WORK SOUTH WALES TO MANCHESTER SERVICES WITH 2 CARRIAGES, which is ludicrous. Also Geoff doesn't like the 153s that go to Skegness, which is also ludicrous. Class 387 Electrostar working the semi-fast London - Didcot Service. Class 800 Hitachi working the London - Bristol service Class 800 Hitachi accelerating the London - Cheltenham service impressively. Which train do you think has the best acceleration Ben? I think the 345s and 331s are extremely fast but I don’t think the 323s will be far behind them.

There aren’t many about anymore. I’ve only ever seen a 47 once before and that was in my first Peterborough visit and I don’t even think I put that in the video!

I often don’t time my visits to stations and that way it can be anything from just normal traffic to a one off special. Generally, if I get one freight or something unusual, I call it a win in my book 😃

I use a service called Freightmaster, it allows you to see all the actual freight headcodes. It’s payware but I’m sure if you get in contact with Mark (the owner) via email and tell him I sent you, he will give you a discounted first purchase. Well worth it if you ask me 😃👍🏻
