Filmed on 18/01/2019. The first outing of 2019 brings us to a day across Lancashire starting of with a sort but sweet stint at Lancashire's busiest station, welcome back to Preston (Season 6 Episode 1)
A rather wet soaking stint with a band mix of rain, sleet and snow. are the weather conditions of the day. Sadly, most of the freight was cancelled or not required but despite this small set back, it brings out the new generation of trains on test from Northern with class 331 and 195's which are due to come into service anytime soon.
During the stint at Preston, this is what is featured:
Virgin Trains class 390 Pendolino
Virgin Trains class 221 Super Voyager
Transpennine Express class 185 (On Loan to Northern)
Transpennine Express class 350
Colas Rail Track Machine
Northern Class 142
Northern Class 150/2
Northern Class 156
Northern Class 158
Not a bad way to start the year off.

I have seen one of the new class 195s (195103 to be precise) at Lancaster on the 20th of February.

Cool, not long to go hopefully. However, the recent news that apparently they have had some issues with them.

But I was told by someone on the internet the north only has 2 Car Pacers rammed with people all the time?

It is true in some ways. I filmed an evening session at Leeds during the evening rush hour commute home. It wasn't just the Pacers but all services were/can be very busy indeed. Hence why during morning and evening rush commutes, trains would or should have additional carriages. This is why Northern has invested into brand new trains which are bigger and much faster. Bare in mind, train failures can occur and sometimes unexpected issues occur.
