A Weekday Evening of West Coast services at Rugeley Trent Valley, heading around the South and North of the United Kingdom. Trains include:

- London Northwestern Railway Class 350s (4 Variants)
- 350/1 - Built in 2004/05 - AC & DC

Since recording this video, Rugeley Power Station's main (tallest) cooling tower has been demolished. The remaining cooling towers are scheduled for demolition in early June 2021.

Locos are 5 digit numbers where the first two numbers are the class of train e.g. 67010 would be a class 67. Set Number - e.g. WB64 or NL04 - These are semi-permanent loco hauled coach formations which are kept together for formalities. The first two letters usually indicate the maintenance depot responsible e.g. OC is Old Oak Common, LA is Laira. The number indicates the rake number.

@@StarlifeStudios its a great video 😄👍🏽The WCML has always had the Freight-liners zooming up and down, back in he day some were electric hauled by 85/86/87’s, others were diesel, mainly 47’s but I have seen class 40’s and 45’s working these trains through Stafford in the 1980’s. There used to be a Wolverhampton to Ditton (Widnes area) BOC Liquid Nitrogen tank train which was quite often worked by a veteran class 40 locomotive 😎👍🏽

Thanks Jacob. Those Triple headed 66s were definitely the star of the show although the 88 with new Ford cars was very interesting as well. I plan to spend an entire day at a west coast station to capture all the specials. Hopefully it will be entertaining 😃.

@@StarlifeStudios do the 350s normality run on the Rugeley to Birmingham new street/Birmingham International via Walsall services? Because those services are classified as west Midland railway but the 350s are still in London North western railway livery. Id assume the 730/0s will take over when they enter service, or Mabye the replacement for the 350s, the 730/1 and /2. I wonder what will happen to the 319s and 350s when those trains are replaced. Back to the point, I'd assume the Rugeley-Birmingham services are normally run by 323s?

As far as I can tell, this has always (since electrification) been a 350 route. The situation with WMR and LNR is very confusing since as you said the entire 350 fleet is LNR branded. I have no idea what this route will look like once the 730s come on scene but they will likely attempt to standardise the trains and services to be branded correctly.

London Northwestern Railway have started using the Class 350 Desiros on the Abbey Branch Line (Watford Junction-St. Albans Abbey). Perhaps Rugeley Trent Valley could have a new footbridge and lifts. Or is that not possible.

Its the beginning of the end for the Class 319s on LNR. All being well, I hope to go to Watford Junction and see them soon. The footbridge didn't seem too bad although it was not step free. The most immediate problem was the short 4 car length platforms.

Why are WMR services in this video operated by LNR 350s? What happened with 1U33 that skipped the station?

Yep, I believe that the fast lines were blocked for a while. 350s in service on the fasts are rare on the Trent valley.

I believe there was a fatality at Rugby a little earlier in the day. This is also the reason the Freight and Crewe LNR 350s ran on the fasts to try and recover service. Thanks legoisthebest001!

Good Question! Believe it or not 4M81 and 4F62 were only a minute apart so it looks like the signaller routed the GBRf one onto the fast line to avoid wasting time.

Umm,why was 1U33 over a hour late?? If it was that late,they should have just stopped and turned it round at Stafford,not send it non stop to Crewe.

I believe there was a fatality at Rugby earlier in the day. I’m not exactly sure of the reasoning for going all the way to Crewe. Maybe something to do with driver changes? Either way, it was late coming back as well! Thanks BowlerStuff 😃

We see: Class 350 Desiro on the Chase Line, which is newly electrified. Class 66 Loco pulling freight AT SPEED! 2 OF THEM. Class 350 Desiro on the stopping Crewe service Class 390 Pendolino on the London - Glasgow service Class 390 Pendolino on the London - Manchester service Class 221 Voyager on the London - Chester service THAT IS STILL IN VIRGIN TRAINS LIVERY! I thought Avanti was doing a good job. Class 350 on the Chase Line Class 66 Loco, and Class 88 Loco towing cars at SPEED! Class 350 Desiro that is SO LATE! Class 390 Pendolino that is SO LATE on the London - Liverpool service, which Avanti wants to have 2tph with 1 calling at Liverpool South Parkway. Class 390 Pendolino on the London - Glasgow service Most Pendolinos and Freight ARE AT SPEED! Class 350 Desiro on the Chase Line Class 390 Pendolino on the London - Manchester service Class 350 Desiro on the stopping Crewe service. Class 390 Pendolino on the London - Manchester service Class 350 Desiro on the Chase Line Class 390 Pendolino on the London - Liverpool service Class 390 Pendolino on the London - Manchester service Class 66 Loco Class 350 Desiro on the Chase Line Class 66 Loco pulling freight at SPEED! The Class 350s are still a bit of a mixed bag of liveries even 4 years after London Midland lost the franchise! In answer to your Class 221 question: at present, both 221108 and 221110 are in Avanti Livery. Thanks for your comment as always Ben, I hope you enjoyed the 7 freight trains :D
